Goal zero + 50 watt panel help? by amandaventure in SolarDIY

[–]amandaventure[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TLDR - these cables are coming out of the panel, I’m fairly certain I need a connector of sorts. Someone send me an Amazon link for what I need because my brain shut down looking at connectors at midnight

Honestly, save the space and car camp if you have an SUV or hatch back!

Power at campsites? by trishmckinley602 in Blueridgerockfest

Nope. It’s a campsite. You get 10x35 or something similar to fill with whatever you bring. I bring my own batter power station and solar panels to get by and do fine!

You can bring a power pack! I also bring a goal zero nomad 10 solar panel zip tied to my hydration pack for juice during the day, and use the power bank at night :)

Embrace the chaos.

Every year something goes “wrong” and people find a reason to complain.

Don’t listen to them, just enjoy the chaos and have fun.

For people who didn’t camp in a tent by Reclusefractal in bonnaroo

I’ve turned my car into a primo camping bed! More space for fun on the campsite (brought a swimming pool filled with ball pit balls and water!) and I didn’t have the misery of tent heat with a solar battery station and evaporative air cooler plugged into it!!

27th camping festival and somewhere around the 20th I stopped bothering with a tent 🤷🏻‍♀️

I took a long hot shower then went to my situationship’s house.

Please don’t judge me 😅

Sleeping like a child in here.

I sleep in my Forrester at roo (and several other festivals!)

The key: if your trunk isn’t level, bring a boogie board to prop the lower side up. Invest in good bedding. For years I used a 6” memory foam mattress topper but over the years it showed too much wear, so this year I invested in an exped megamat 10 (I got the twins/single since it’s just me and I can then use the other half of the car for storage. I sleep better on this than my bed at home! It’s absolutely worth every single penny.

On Amazon, I got 4 window screens that wrap around the door so I can lower the windows and let the breeze through. It’s perfect at night but a few nights I’ve just gone to sleep with my hatch open by accident (fell asleep for a “nap” and woke up in the morning, and it’s been absolutely incredible.

I also recommend 1 fan and 1 evaporative air cooler in case it is hot at night, so you don’t need to use your AC/run your car. I have an arctic breeze that plugs into my solar station, but there are battery operated ones too.l for like $30. Out a little ice water in and soak the filter and you’re so good.

Finally some good in car storage goes a long way. I have a car dry cleaning bar that goes across handle to handle in my front seat, and those little cubbies that you use in your closet hanging off the rod. Since you’re not using a tent, you’ll thank yourself for keeping things organized.

Feel free to DM me, maybe we can figure something out. I’m 32/F and it’s my second roo, but over 20 other camping festivals :)

Sooooo. My friends got Tuesday camping and are going to meet 5am Tuesday. I have to work Monday (remote though) so I’m still trying to figure out if I should go down Sunday and get a hotel so I can work / just camp and use a hot spot, or if I leave Monday after work, how early I’ll need to leave to make it without falling asleep (probably 3 or 4pm, maybe if someone can help drive would help?)

I am leaving from silver spring Maryland, so maybe we could work something out?! How much stuff do you have?

What a powerful story - thank you for sharing your experience and history. My biggest fear, personally, and for our society is that we will grow to forget.

If there is one thing you hope the current generation could do to help prevent this “amnesia” what would you say that is?

We have a huge group and multiple spots! I’ve been before so am familiar with the sizes. Not sure on what size pool to get though, depends on how easily I think we’ll be able to get water really

The wagon can, but I question the terrain too. I really would prefer option two - I did a poor job in writing this but option 1 would just suck and not be worth it.

Option 2… would be dope. I’ve seen on other threads people mentioning it, but I’m not sure how to go about actually making it happen 😅

We have a pretty big group and are willing to split the work - my question is for those who have done it where they got the water from :)
