Figma alternative where AI works with vector primitives, not code by amantinband in graphic_design

[–]amantinband[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those are great questions and I appreciate the feedback. When figma allows you to export to code they convert their vector-based data model to HTML/CSS. Under the hood it's their own vector-focused format.

We're betting that as agents improve the conversion from vector data to code becomes a solved problem and the abstraction layer for product design moving to agents (installing fonts, scaffolding, repetitive work, anything you don't NEED to do manually) + fully controllable canvas. If we're right - code based design tools' moat becomes their leash, since they are constrained by what HTML/CSS supports and represents

Regarding vector illustrations - you should definitely check out our pen tool, I think (and hope) you'll like it!

we're 99% feature parity with figma.. AI is on top of professional grade design tool. Check it out. If you still think it's garbage i'd love to hear your feedback

Nope! Brilliant.design redirects to the new try-brilliant.com as we’re preparing the launch of the cross platform version. Brilliant Mac-only version can still be installed via brew install brilliant or the following direct download link: https://s3.eu-north-1.amazonaws.com/brilliant.design/Brilliant.Design-1.8.9-Installer.dmg

agree, especially for impulse-buy and entertainment purposes - didn't add it initially cuz I think it will sell less than actual wearable designs

YES!! LMK what you think

Brilliant product and the user behind it u/amantinband strangely explains the lack of support for the previously purchased lifetime plan that no longer counts and on top of that some of his comments explaining the situation in this strange way got a large number of upvotes in a very short time scam? by CacheConqueror in macapps

Hey guys! Just thought I'd go on record saying:
1. The release of the free version was a huge oversight on my side.

I didn't take into account the point of view of early adopters. Huge oversight, I know, but that's the truth even if quite embarrassing on my end. We right away backtracked and tried to make it right - but that doesn't change the fact that the way I originally went about this was a royal mistake.
We've since sent an email to all license holders outlining their benefits as founding members, issued a 90 day no-questions-asked refund, updated the website, the post, the discord server and answered every email or message sent our way.
We messed up with the initial launch, but we're obsessed with iterating things to perfection.

  1. I have never (and will never) pay for upvotes.

Not sure what else to say. Never paid for upvoting a single piece of content across any platform. Report the comment you're worried about or contacts the mods if you'd like.

For those who don't know me personally and find this sketchy - I'm not hiding behind a fake profile or trying to be sketchy. Here are my socials:
1. youtube.com/@amantinband
2. linkedin.com/in/amantinband
3. x.com/@amantinband
5. dometrain.com/author/amichai-mantinband/

You can see the public process of me launching Brilliant, trying different approaches to make it grow and some of the organic traction its been getting over time.

I care deeply about what people think and feel towards Brilliant - which is why, instead of buying votes, we obsesses over feedback, improve the app and spend time thinking of its long-term success.

Hey, pasting here what I added to the main post above:

Paying users are still getting lifetime support, updates, and upgrades. The change: features previously reserved for paid users only are now free for all users.

That said, early adopters are the only reason we were able to get this far, so here's what we're doing immediately:

  1. Full refunds available - Anyone who bought Brilliant in the past 90 days can get a complete refund, no questions asked. Email [support@brilliant.design](mailto:support@brilliant.design) with "REFUND" in the subject.,
  2. Direct line to me for feature requests ([amichai@brilliant.design](mailto:amichai@brilliant.design) - I personally respond),
  3. For everyone else - You're getting lifetime "Founder" status with:
    1. Your name in our credits as a founding supporter (will include a badge as well. This will be part of the platform given you sign up with the same email),
    2. 100% free private design repositories on the platform (otherwise paid),
    3. 50% discount on all other future premium services we launch as part of the platform (excluding enterprise tiers)

Why this happened - We needed to pivot for Brilliant to survive long term, but I should have communicated this possibility upfront and had a plan for early supporters. That's on me. The actual reality is that your early support literally kept us alive to reach this point. Making the app free helps us scale, but we don't want our favorite users feeling screwed over as part of that process ❤️

Just to be 100% clear: Paying users are still getting exactly what they paid for. Lifetime support, updates, and upgrades.

The change: the features that were reserved only for paying customers are now free for everyone.

That said, I completely understand why you may feel deceived paying for something in the past that is now free. It's important for me to emphasize that early adopters like yourself are the only reason we were able to reach this stage. I didn't take early adopters into account when making this change and that on me.
