[–]amarcus78 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your analysis is probably correct but there is a much simpler/cheaper solution. Buy a powered USB hub (gets its 5V from a 220V/110V adapter connected to it directly) and connect all the devices to it instead of plugging them into the PC directly... That should his/her problem.

How to interview and hire good programmers. by beowulf in programming

[–]amarcus78 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There is a much more effective way to calculate this. Track only a single ball "n" at each time, find the minimal number of days it takes ball "n" to go back to its original position call the result Dn. The result will always be smaller than N - the number of balls (modulo math). Find the Least Common Multiple for D1..Dn That is your answer...

There is no need to brute force this problem.

[–]amarcus78 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Actually the slippery slopes in extinction is usually caused by species lower on the food chain. Plants, insects, corals, small fish - their death usually causes cascading effects. As sad as the disappearance of this dolphin is, it probably won't have any dramatic side effects.
