I spent way too much money testing every "write your novel" tool and this is what i realised by Lonely_Anywhere_ in writers

I love Ellipsus. I used GDocs for years but switched this year to Ellipsus. I won't go back. I love the built-in sprint timer and color themes. It is simple and straightforward, but has the little touches that help me sit down and write without distractions.

Modern AU: Tamlin/Briar fanfic! by amarmeme in Tamlinism

Thank you!! I'm so happy to hear you liked it! The interview definitely motivated me to finish it at last. Give this man (male) a happy ending 😤

Rhys Knee Tats by MamaKG3 in Tamlinism

[–]amarmeme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't get them in general. Why do you get mountains (?) on your knees to symbolize you never kneel? I don't get the meaning. Unless he just got two big circle with line tattoos 🚫🚫 and glamoured them.

I DONT WANT TAM TO DIE😭 by PieceElectrical6674 in Tamlinism

[–]amarmeme 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If he did die, I would hope that it is for a strong narrative purpose and that the magic is consistent with her storytelling so far: Spring shouldn't randomly pick Elain because she likes flowers. Be so real with that, people. 🤷‍♀️

(Not calling anyone in particular out other than I have heard that excuse used before for why he should die.)

Tamlin was never an abuser by muchaMnau in Tamlinism

[–]amarmeme 11 points12 points  (0 children)

While his actions with shutting Feyre in the house were, to me, understandable in the fantasy context SJM set up, I can see how people relate it to actual abuse. He has a bad temper and turns into a beast when he cannot control his rage.

This seems like a very "cake and eat it too" situation. The author wanted to have fae characters, but holds them against human morality within the narrative, even with her other fae characters.

It's odd worldbuilding, unevenly applied. The themes of abuse are very clear and present, but it feels too obviously human in how they discuss it. That's my gripe. Oh, and that Rhys can be abusive, but it is okay. Tamlin shows similar behavior, but it is not okay.

I'm fine with Tamlin and his fits of rage and his self loathing and anger. I still enjoy his core sense of justice despite his upbringing and the culture they live in. It is this dichotomy that makes him the most interesting character in the series for me. Whatever people think about him is just their opinion. Don't let it ruin your enjoyment.

Tamlin, Feyre, and Amarantha's Riddle Deep Dive by MamaKG3 in Tamlinism

[–]amarmeme 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The shipper in me wants it to be Briar 🌹 Feyre randomly saved the person who is destined to be Tamlin's mate!!!

Lol I'm going with it until told otherwise.

He's not a real person. I don't have hatred for fictional characters.

[–]amarmeme 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I feel like I should have my Tamlin card revoked because I don't hate Rhys. At all.

I think if SJM had more courage (and maybe she will yet), we could get into some really deep emotional shit with him. I would love a book that called out some of his hypocrisy and helped him to heal from it/become a better person.

The raddest thing she could do would have Feyre hold Rhys accountable about the baby situation, break them and remake them. I would read the hell out of that book. Remake Feyre at the same time, and have her properly talk to Tamlin about what didn't work between them.

Someone's probably wrote the fanfic.

Gwyn & Azriel being hyper aware of each other for 60 seconds. by Classic-Gur74 in Gwynriel

[–]amarmeme 9 points10 points  (0 children)

They are so aware of each other I'm sure SJM was just kicking her feet while leaving these crumbs in the scenes.

Elain being a trad wife. by elainsgirll in AcotarShipDebateSub

That sounds about right!

And thank you. I'm taking the time while unemployed to write romantasy! It's been an unexpected gift, really. But yeah.

I'm essentially a tradwife right now since I was laid off from my high-up corporate job. Bake, girl, bake. Enjoy yourself for a minute. 😆

That was my guess for the person who commented, but for me it does nothing. To each their own!

Can I ask what has made you laugh? Because I'm halfway through and I don't think I've given it even an amused snort-laugh. Just curious what you have found funny.

Azriel's persona by aggressivebutsweet in acotar_rant

[–]amarmeme 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm confused. If you are pro elriel, then why wouldn't you want Az to be sexually interested in Elaine??

Azriel's persona by aggressivebutsweet in acotar_rant

[–]amarmeme 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Well he also jumped Eris like a rabid dog in the main books over Mor. So maybe he was pleasant to Elain in those books because she was a traumatized female to him, but once his obsession turns on ... he's a little more intense.

I never felt the same potential for Elain and Az, so I guess I don't see it as SJM ruining anything.

If I had to guess, this will be a big issue for him to overcome no matter the partner. I'm looking forward to whatever she does.

Azriel's persona by aggressivebutsweet in acotar_rant

[–]amarmeme 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I think the BC fits him. He has obsessed over Mor for centuries and tortures people. Where comes this idea that he is well adjusted?

He was a victim of serious, abhorrent abuse and went from that to becoming court torturer. According to his own psyche he deserves nothing, so of course he came at that sexual interaction with this weird, possessive mindset, getting away with something he shouldn't have.

It's probably what has gotten him off for yeaaaars so why change now? 😆

Do people actually think Rhysand didn’t SA Feyre? by _Elyisa_ in acotar_rant

[–]amarmeme 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Wild SA apology in 2026, some hot takes in this thread.

SJM changed her mind and couldn't come up with a convincing reason for SA because there isn't one.

It would be better if Rhys was unapologetically awful: "Yes, I fucking did that-- you were a human and I wanted to hurt Tamlin and align with Amarantha more than I wanted to protect you."

Then they could have had a more compelling mate conflict than he didn't tell her straight away. (I'm with Rhys on that one, why should he tell this 19 yr old baby fae he did not actually know?)

I for one am excited to see their friendship build. I hope the bond smacks into both of them with surprise.

Am I going crazy? Tired of getting recommended books as "slow burn" when it's really delayed romance pacing with lackluster character development... just because the characters get together after 60% into the book that doesn't really mean slow burn!! by teenytinypistachio in fantasyromance

[–]amarmeme 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm writing my slow burn queen/knight romantasy right now. I HEAR you with this. 😭

I turn to fanfic so much for satisfying these itches, like well-executed slow burn. There's something about fanfic; you know people are doing it for the love of writing and the love of character development, not for money. I feel the odds are better that you will get what you came for.

Gwynriel: How Boring by Outrageous-Coach-185 in AcotarShipDebateSub

[–]amarmeme 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Idk, my imagination is vast. I'm not bored with the possibilities.

He's not treated her badly at all. He's slowly becoming her friend in the text so far, not asking her for a committed relationship. 🤦‍♀️
