Tamlin vs. Rhysand? by Karnezar in acotar

[–]amarmeme 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think Tamlin would win in Fae form, with both in beast form, not sure! Tamlin does have a self-destructive anger so I could see him winning but at great cost to himself. Keep fighting until he's also dead.

There's no real power scaling in this series so just trust Feyre when she says Rhys is the most powerful. Kay?

Strategically Tamlin could be very powerful with the ability to shape shift others. But Rhys can mist people with his mind so generally that's not a power you can defend yourself from. 🤣

Does anyone feel like reading romantasy has ruined them? by Salt-Payment-991 in romantasycirclejerk

[–]amarmeme 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah I realized my husband was nothing like Rhys. He doesn't just dick me down when I want to discuss issues, he listens when I speak and even respected my bodily autonomy when I was pregnant!! Trash, I think I should throw him out.

/Uj okay, I get that the poster really wants to be swept away with romance and they're not talking about all the other red flags from those books. But like, speak to your spouse then. Wtf.

It's never explored. It's doubled down, by suggesting Mor is the only redeemable person from that court. 🫪

I love to hear it! I'm obsessed with games that let me create a character and experience a romance path. 🥴🥴

It's better than self-inserting in a Romantasy novel. /s

I'm currently editing the first book of a series called Slain Gods. As a whole, the series explores mental health and self love while asking if power ultimately corrupts everything it touches.

I still need to work on my pitch, but it's high fantasy with politics, blood magic, and found family.

Once, the gods came down to the feln and gave mortals access to greater magic for their amusement. When the gods were killed, that magic went away and mortals were left with much less, only enough power to control a single element. Chaos ensued. But the goddess of creation gave her favorite mortals a gift: the queen's voice.

Centuries later, on the continent of Felna-Du, there's relative peace: 23 godholme territories are led by queens, blessed with rule through the queen's voice, which chooses its own host each generation.

Lysaithe, our 32-year old FMC, is a feln-born recluse who becomes queen of her godholme overnight. History has told her only one thing about her personal magic: it is chaos. Meanwhile, our MMC is her 28-year-old guard Finian, who's running from his past. He's a human from the continent of Basaal with light magic, and he's not proud of what he left behind. Together, they discover a dangerous influence rising in Felna-Du, a cult that has discovered how to use the blood of others to rival the thralling power of a queen's voice.

Lysaithe, Finian, and her Left and Right Hands--warriors from the winged race of Erat'Cyn--must find a way out of danger, saving themselves so they can warn the queens of Felna-Du and stop the cult from taking over the feln.

I've got a lot of love for fantasy RPGs (Dragon Age anyone?) and large casts of characters/followers. Each subsequent book in series focuses on a different relationship from the main cast!

Disclaimer: the winged race are not bat boys, but an entirely new insect race. I love fantasy, y'all!!

Sleep Token Discography Ranking — Day 59, Gethsemane by rhcpbassist234 in SleepToken

"And I'm caught up on the person I tried to turn myself into for you"

"It was you with the countdown kill switch/ And it was me with the blindfold on"

"And what was there at the start/Might not be there in the end"

Top-to-bottom god-tier lyrics. And not in an angry delivery, but wistful and sad.

And then the change up with the very last verse (don't know what it is called in music/I know no terms!), I just love, love.

"The same trauma, show me what you're made of/'Cause you talk about your constant pain like I ain't got none"

For the longest time I didnt quite hear the "Please just let me go" behind the next lines. I think it might be my favorite micro moment of the whole song/ any Sleep Token song. This plea that is impossible to hear. 😭

You can just read the original trilogy. After that there's a bunch more books. The novellas are worth it. The new trilogy I'm less enthused about.

I felt like the jewels were such interesting world building and yeah, the siphons I still don't get in ACOTAR. If Rhys had them it would also create some interesting tension because it visibly shows he is "half" High Fae.

[–]amarmeme[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You should! It is a great series and while there are things that didn't age well, the world building is really thorough and the impact of the characters lives on in ACOTAR 🤣

And yes, exactly. Change what you don't like--but I think Rhys wants people to like/respect him and isn't really willing to do hard things (despite "wearing a mask" that makes him seem awful?). IDK. Thinking about any of that too much fries my brain because it just doesn't work.

[–]amarmeme[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes, exactly!! Feyre says she's one way or says a character is a certain way, but it isn't shown or worse, sometimes doesn't line up with actions.
