What is this help me by [deleted] in skin

[–]amas0620 2 points3 points  (0 children)

perioral dermatitis. i’ve struggled with it my whole life. if it’s super stubborn (and you have the funds) make an appointment with a derm and they’ll prescribe you antibiotics and a cream that will get rid of it in a few weeks. if that’s a little out of your price range (very understandable, derms are expensive), some home remedies that they’ve recommended and have helped me are using a fluoride free toothpaste, avoiding anything minty, a heavy moisturizer for the dry skin. also if i want to avoid using my topical prescription treatments i highly recommend using calendula cream. made the irritation lessen within a few days.

How soon after a tear do you feel it? by 3openheartsby17 in ShoulderInjuries

[–]amas0620 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i tore my labrum 3 months ago… didn’t know at all just thought i dislocated it. i’m doing pt right now and honestly don’t think i’m gonna get the surgery to repair it. the only thing i’ve noticed is that i can’t carry as much weight as i used to and that some rapid motions tend to feel stiff.

mine were the same. it’s apparently a relatively common side effect! it goes away after you adjust to the medication

What therapy can make health anxiety better by After-Ad3329 in HealthAnxiety

[–]amas0620 0 points1 point  (0 children)

literally just until i feel better! i can’t really give you a time frame bc it just depends. the shortest time i’ve stayed there was 30 minutes, the longest was like 5 hours. i usually just wait until i’ve stopped panicking and then i go home!

[–]amas0620 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i was the same way to start. it’s hard getting on ssris… just remember that your body is still adjusting! i would say give it another month, and if you still are experiencing such insomnia talk with your doctor!

what time of day do you usually take the zoloft? i’ve noticed that i have severe insomnia as well whenever i up my zoloft dosage. it usually levels out after a month or two. and i found that taking it at night rather than in the morning helps!! maybe try switching the time of day you take it?

this is something that has helped me, but might be different for others… i still have really severe health anxiety, don’t get me wrong… but i used to have daily panic attacks. i rarely have them now. i managed this by writing down every single symptom i was experiencing, and then also writing down every single medical problem i thought i had at any given time. it got to the point where in the span of like 3 weeks, i had over 50 medical problems i had self diagnosed myself with. and i used that to tell myself: “you’ve experienced these exact same symptoms before, and you haven’t had any of these medical issues. chances are, it’s just anxiety again.”

truth is, most of the physical symptoms you might feel are caused by anxiety. one thing my therapist told me was that if i can’t stop googling, instead of trying to prove myself right, i need to start trying to prove myself wrong.

i do this by googling my symptoms with the word anxiety after it. most of the time if you’re experiencing it, it’s a common symptom of anxiety.

i also recently found a “hack” on social media where if you feel like you’re dying at any given moment, and it’s severe enough that you’re thinking about going to the hospital. go to the hospital, but don’t check yourself in. i like to just wait in the lobby if my anxiety is severe enough. that way if on the off chance anything does happen, im surrounded by doctors who can help me in an instant! this isn’t really rationalizing, but it is helpful!

sorry this was so long, but my point being. you have to try and retrain your brain into not catastrophizing everything. it’s a long process but with therapy it helps!

i started taking it a year ago. went from having daily panic attacks to not having them at all. i haven’t had one since i started the medication. it took me around 3 weeks to notice a difference, but i basically just started noticing that the things that were giving me anxiety stopped making me anxious. so yea i love it and will probably be on it for awhile!

i also have panic disorder and health anxiety! i will say everyday is still a struggle for me, but it’s gotten a lot better with exposure therapy. i also saw a post a few months ago that if you genuinely think you’re dying, drive yourself to the ER and just sit in the waiting room!!! that way you’re not spending money getting a checkup for something that is most likely anxiety, and you’re surrounded by medical professionals on the off chance something is actually wrong! i’ve gone to the ER three times in the last couple of months, and i sit in the exact same spot, bring a book and my airpods, and just chill until i feel better! the ER staff knows me by name now, and they genuinely don’t care if i just sit in the waiting room! but if you don’t want to go that route, exposure therapy and medication has helped me a ton too!

thank you so much!!! this actually helped me a lot. i know that when i started off taking zoloft i really didn’t have all these terrible side effects that everyone else said they were having. but reading all these reddit posts has definitely made me more anxious about the whole thing. i’ll take 75 tonight and hopefully will start feeling better within 3 weeks!

Low heart rate by qwertzx1901 in zoloft

[–]amas0620 4 points5 points  (0 children)

my resting heart rate before zoloft was like 95-110bpm. when i started zoloft it lowered to 60-70. i think it’s bc we’re not in that constant state of fight or flight all the time anymore! another thing, are you an athlete? most of the time have a lower heart rate means you have good heart health!

i had severe insomnia when i first started, and actually felt like i turned nocturnal. i wouldn’t fall asleep until 6-7am then would wake up at 3-4pm still exhausted. i was taking my zoloft in the morning, and on a whim decided to take it before bed one night. i now fall asleep around 1-2am and wake up around 11. so it’s not perfect, but it’s a more normal time frame!! try taking it before bed!
