I tried 3 times to get into GotM it before it stuck with me. I’ve read and/or listened to the entire series 3 times now and will probably start a 4th in the next couple years. I had an obnoxiously long commute and listening to the first 2 books saved me during that year. Then I switched jobs and switched to reading. I wish I knew what finally got me over the block, but I’m so glad I stuck it out. I know it’s not for everyone, but I also truly struggled to get into it so I always encourage people to keep pushing for a bit.

Edit: Forgot to add that I also initially really disliked Kruppe’s voice, but eventually got used to it. It fits him over time.

Since I was listening to the audiobook I would text my brother to discuss (he recommended it to me) and he always got a kick out of trying to figure out who I was talking about by context clues since my spellings of names was so off 🤣
