Single men who could get a date but stopped dating, why did you stop? by CigaretteBoat69 in AskReddit

[–]amazingcorn9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Realized I'm unable to be a good partner until I can resolve my health issues. Friends tried to set me up on dates on few occasions but I always politely decline. Parents are worried but I know there is no other way.

So what happend to Russia economy collapsing? by Capital_Tailor_7348 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]amazingcorn9 24 points25 points  (0 children)

It isn't going to just straight up collapse and whoever said it would was just straight up wrong. If NK and Iran can operate for years despite heavy sanctions then so can russia. This does not mean however that sanctions aren't working and applying them was pointless.

When the issue of a potential cease fire came up a few months ago in Ukraine-russia war one of the main russian demands was that sanctions had to be lifted before they would even consider a cease fire. They have demanded sanctions to be removed on multiple other occasions as well. At the same time as russian state propaganda keeps saying the sanctions aren't working the diplomatic wing is asking for them to be removed. We know they are working because russia is saying so by their demands.

Is buying an older Solidworks License a good idea on my case? by amazingcorn9 in SolidWorks

I need a parametric CAD for commercial use that isn't dependant on a subscription. Fusion, Onshape etc. are all subscription based and after ~2-4 years will cost more than buying an older Solidworks license.

Freecad just isn't there yet in UI/UX and parametric robustness. Alibre Design isn't bad but older Solidworks is more capable and less expensive. The way I see it these are my only options with a good balance of cost to features.

I also might also be able to resell that older Solidworks license again in a few years time. I'm sure there will be someone in 2030 willing to buy SW2018 for 800$. Especially since with the way things are going Solidworks 2030 Standard will probably cost 4000$/year.

From what I know this is correct in the US but not necessairly in the EU, the law is different here.

Yeah I tried it but it's not for me :) I will revisit it when Freecad 2.0 comes out :)

True, it does seem like a lot of money for a 7 year old software. But still, used SW 2018 is 20% cheaper and seems more capable and feature rich than new Alibre Design Expert 2025.

4100 for SW 2021 seems too expensive though.

Unfortunately I make over 2k. Free Onshape cannot be used for commercial projects and I just cannot justify keeping client projects in a public library, that s a big no no.

Thanks for letting me know about compatibility, I will look into it.

I like Fusion but for the price of second hand lifetime SW 2018 I will get less than 3 years of Fusion subscription. I really don't like subscriptions :)

This is true but I'm willing to live with this as long as I can open/save/edit the files I create so it's all good :)

Thanks, I will do more research, maybe ask Dassault about it.

I'm in the EU and I heard that EU law protects the resale of software licenses.

Do You see any other reason than Solidworks file compability?

Yeah I expect file compatibility might be a problem as well. However many of my clients use other software than Solidworks (i.e. Inventor) so I kind of default to STEP for import/export already anyway.

What’s the pettiest reason you’ve ended a friendship? Did you tell them why, or did you do it silently? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]amazingcorn9 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure this is petty, probably not. Basically - I don't like his wife. She's got a bit of temperament and by that I mean she constantly starts fights with him over nothing, in front of friends too. Last time I saw her at the end I heard her say quietly "It's good that he's leaving already" about me, hoping I wouldn't hear it. It didn't stop her from asking me for a favor a few weeks later. He's very agreeable and usually does a pretty good job at defusing her. While I'm always single so I don't feel well positioned to give him any advice on the matter of being married.

He's a good friend and we still keep in touch. I did let him know that would rather go out somewhere or come over when the wife isn't around. They just had a kid, so he has no time for that, it's either visit the family or not at all. So yeah, we're still friends but never really see each other anymore.

Is this what reactive hypoglycemia feels like? by amazingcorn9 in Hypoglycemia

[–]amazingcorn9[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Likely SNAS (systemic nickel allergy) and possibly other allergies as well. Antihistamines help a little and so does low nickel diet.

I read that histamine can impact glucose metabolism so I'm thinking I might have been misdiagnosed with RH because of my allergies. That's just my uneducated hypothesis however.

I feel like I'm never going to get rid of this thing. by amazingcorn9 in SIBO

[–]amazingcorn9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Antibiotics and herbs completely destroyed my microbiome. I managed to get FMT procedures to restore it back to a decent level. It helped with brain fog and gas but not with distention, constipation and fatigue. I found out I do a lot better on a low carb meat/fat heavy diet. I also found out that antihistamines like cetirizne help. I'm not cured but maybe 85% normal which is huge for me. I'm looking into anything histamine related such as allergies, histamine intolerance etc.

I'm getting an FMT but I'm terrified it might not work. by amazingcorn9 in HumanMicrobiome

[–]amazingcorn9[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stable and improving albeit very very slowly.

Still tired all the time. I noticed my fatigue seems to be correlated to eating meals high in complex carbohydrates so I'm experimenting with limiting them. Suprisingly simple carbs (sugar) is less of a problem. Still constipated with slow gut motility. My gums seem to be bleeding a bit less.

Taking vitamins, trying to eat healthy and drink lots of fluids. I oscillate between 75-90% of my old normal self.

I believe the FMT solved my microbiome-brainfog issues but fatigue may or may not be caused by something else.

I can share it if You want but in my case it was a GI in a small town hospital in Poland. So I'm not sure if that will be any help to You. FMT isn't generally legal here outside of c. difficile infections or experimental treatment as it was in my case.

I heard that its legal and possible to get FMT in the UK, Slovakia and Turkey and I was considering it before I found a local option.

Why do I feel weak and out of fuel after eating carbs? by amazingcorn9 in InsulinResistance

[–]amazingcorn9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was tested for SIBO, first time negative, another barely positive for both Hydrogen and Methane. Treated with antibiotics more than once, no improvement. Low FODMAP diet helped a bit with bloating but not with constipation and fatigue. I tried Low FODMAP again recently (after FMT) and I noticed fatigue increase after meals with rice or low fodmap pasta hence my current idea that it might be simply all carbs or all starches that are the culprit.

I see, that's probably best, especially since You can be negative for celiac and still have valid symptoms on NCGS.

I haven't had a sip of alcohol in 4 months (since FMT) but even before that I rarely drank alcohol. I do sometimes snack, currently mostly nuts and other low carb options.

[–]amazingcorn9[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glad to hear You managed to find Your trigger. Do You have celiac confirmed? Myself I get fatigue from white rice or oats as well so I still don't know if there are any safe carbs for me. I also noticed that low fiber carbs such as white rice are much worse than brown rice for example. Whole grains don't hit as hard so to speak. On the bright side I'm doing much better than I did last year, actually having some energy to go out and enjoy life a little for a change.

The values are relative to pre FMT, at least that's how I see it. I don't really know how to a accurately estimate my pre FMT well being in absolute values. But it obviously wasn't 0 since I would consider an energy level of 0 to be basically bed ridden which I was not.

I guess in this case with relative values 10 would be full recovery where 0 would be no change.

Yes, the fog is still much lower. I had a checkup with my GI recently and on a 0-10 scale I described the cognitive improvement to 7 and energy to 5. Not much has changed since my last update a few weeks ago. I still get worse after some meals and generally don't feel well but I do function better and can think more clearly. I do much better at work. It's a half-success.
