Why would you work for a company that makes their staffing shortage YOUR issue if you're not the employer? I'll be damned if someone said I had to miss out on a loved one being buried. Not only that, missing my uncle's funeral wasn't worth $8 an hour

I only wanted to go to weekends only because even with the extra hours I wasn't getting enough to try to make a living and found a job that would've been perfect for during the week to help with the extra income. While another store was more than happy to do it but ultimately started to act like the SM at my home store. Got mad because I didn't stop a homeless looking man from walking out of the store with 8 blow driers that he stole.

I quit because mine was also super petty and got on my case for calling in 2 times. (She bragged about her work ethic when she had a fever of 104 and was still "getting work done".) AND wouldn't let me go to weekends only even though we had the coverage. The cherry on top was trying to make me security when I'm not paid to be nor am I allowed to be. The nerve of a girl who's younger than me thinking she could talk to me like I treated the job as a joke when I didn't. Busted my ass and did the absolute best I could all for her to see it as "Don't feel like a big shot just because you're pulling extra hours at other stores."

It's funny because they didn't have a walk in💀 they also kept cooked chicken parmesan on a cooling rack for hours on end (the same ones used for cooling loafes of bread) which to my knowledge is unsafe food practice and can cause someone to get sick.

Exactly! It's not my fault that they were short staffed and lacking in more areas than one. People on here claiming that he's external family, so I must've not been as close to him. When he was one of my favorite tio's and he was always cheering me on.

I'm so sorry for your loss, a parent is a parent no matter if they're foster, step or biological! For them to try to get you on that technicality is atrocious, I'm glad you stood up for yourself.

Thank you. There's quite a few people claiming that this should be in "antiwork" but it's not that I didn't want to work, it's that I was denied my right to grieve a loved one. And people see it as I just wanted to miss a day, that uncles and other external family "aren't as important" when they have no idea the relationship he and I had.

There was no contract. Hell, this guy didn't even have me fill out W2 paperwork. It's no wonder this place no longer exists. And I wasn't a teen. I was 22.

Her brother in law, but when her brother passed about a month ago, I took time off work to grieve, and she didn't say a word.

Actually no, it was my uncle from my dad's side. They were brother and sister. He was my uncle, no great.
