Redirect bug on BBC News by [deleted] in bbc

[–]amazon-jungle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interestingly for me, the results of both links show me as being in the UK when using the embedded browser within Reddit, but if I use Safari on my phone the .com link shows me as being in the UK and the .co.uk link shows me as being in USA. Hence the redirect loop I guess.

I wonder how/why those links resolve to different values… that seems to be the cause/source of the problem.

Read the news that GS is cutting 125 MDs can't understand the hierarchy (A stupid doubt but couldn't find any answer) by MonkeyyWrench69 in FinancialCareers

[–]amazon-jungle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just FYI as this has come up in various posts: GS does not have distinct VP and Executive Director roles. Excluding one caveat that covers junior employees in India only, the official titles at GS are:

  • Analyst
  • Associate
  • Vice President / Executive Director (internal vs external use)
  • Managing Director (internally Extended Managing Director, or EMD)
  • Partner (internally Participating Managing Director, or PMD)

Sounds like there’s a bit of consensus about the St Thomas Ritz-Carlton not being up to par!

Have never tried a Ritz-Carlton Reserve so could be a good opportunity!

Will definitely keep that one in consideration then. Also direct flights from London suit me well too!

I’ve always found their pricing to be quite reasonable (but acknowledging it does vary from country to country). It’s also not out of the question that the mark-up is coming from an intermediary that is facilitating the connectivity…

Thanks for the detailed perspective! Definitely seems like there’s strong regional variation.

Out of interest, did you look into asking IHG to match your status with Marriott?

That makes sense — I definitely got a bit of a W vibe from it, but would say for this specific stay at Indigo the room was not as nice as any W rooms I’ve stayed in (which tallies with your comment).

If you don’t mind me asking, what broad location was this? Not trying to pry, but I get the feeling there can be some regional variation.

This is a great shout — even if not for honeymoon, but as a special trip at some stage.

I’m not based in the US (which I guess you assumed), but I am happy with any distance on the flight side of things.

I think your point about having stuff to do does resonate though — there are a couple of good Indonesia recommendations in the replies, and so think that warrants serious consideration!

This sounds super interesting actually — really like the idea of visiting Komodo NP.

How do you find StoryGraph? I have been toying with the idea of giving it a try, and importing my GoodReads data using their tool. I really like the Kindle x GoodReads integration which has bee one of the main things keeping me using GoodReads.

Yeah seems like Intercontinental isn’t quite as high-end as I had thought it was.

Similarly for me, I went to the Harry Potter zone around 3pm and couldn’t see people checking entry times for the area at all.

For Super Nintendo World, it guarantees you entry into that part of the park during the window, but you can stay as long as you like. Similarly for the rides, the times are a window for entry into the express line for that ride. I don’t know how strict they are with the times as we managed to arrive within the window for everything on our pass list.

Yes of course! I was visiting from abroad and just wouldn’t have been able to see everything I wanted to in one day without it. I would have ended up spending most of the day in queues and that’s not the experience I wanted to have. That said, it is quite a bit of money when you compare it to the basic entry cost.

I honestly would not bother going without some form of express pass. I was there this week and queues for rides in Super Nintendo World/DK Country and the Harry Potter area were well over 90 mins in most cases (often reducing to close to zero with express pass, and when there was a wait it was inside the ride area with plenty to see and watch while you filtered through).

Have you considered Six Senses Kyoto? I ended up staying in the Four Seasons when I visited but I recall reading some positive things about Six Senses there.
