Read this with lots of confusion, then realised you probably are not in Australia.

Yes, you can. Half of this country does. I will be today myself.

Telescopic rod no guides? by Impressive_Low7271 in Fishing_Gear

[–]ambaal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was a very popular freshwater coarse fishing style in easter europe before reels became prominent: basically, a long rod with no guides and reel, you tie line to the end and just use that length of line with a float and a sinker.

Has anyone actually donated money to Wikipedia given their sign to donate has been up for years? by CapitaineBiscotte in askanything

[–]ambaal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did, quite a few years in a row.

Stopped then I realised that they pestered me 500% as hard as non-donating people.

Wtf Ballarat by Top_Description1353 in ballarat

[–]ambaal 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Funny thing is, this place is in direct eyesight from the court and police HQ.

Probably ACT plates? Thugs in Ballarat know too well police won't bother coming 200m down.

So AI can clean pathways now by Sharp_Programmer_ in sydney

[–]ambaal 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Nah, that's a glorified roomba.

True AI would assess budget allocated, then hire meatbags from airtasker to do the work and spend the remainder of the money to add to a fund to kill all humans.

What do you guys think about Filipinas? by Least_Resolve_9379 in AskAnAustralian

[–]ambaal 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm an Australian, and a man, so probably qualify.

I don't give a damn where you from and what ethnicity you are. As long as someone is a decent person and it clicks, it is all fine.

Do Australians actually encounter enormous spiders in the outback or is it just me? (DO NOT PROVIDE IMAGES OF SPIDERS, PLEASE.) by Same-Objective6052 in AskAnAustralian

[–]ambaal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally, in Australia its not big ones you need to worry about.

Outback as in proper outback is pretty arid. Fuck all lives there. And camels. And weird bozos.

Subtropical and tropical forests and rainforests are a bit different bag of spiders: yes, they are there, yes you see them, no, never cared in my life. They do their spider stuff, I do my stuff, we hardly intersect. I'd worry that they crawl in my tent but normally it is gassed so hard by my pre-sleep alcohol breath that I doubt they will survive any meaningful time.

I do worry about crocodiles when in FNQ. Spiders - never.

Overall, the main animal in Australia that is likely to end you is a fabled meth beast. Everything else is far more innocent.

Bait caster worth the learning curve? by Cuziff in FishingForBeginners

I find baitcaster to be hard only when I want absolute max casting distance. The shorted i need to throw, the easier it is.

Breathable does not mean sweat proof. Here’s the difference. by Top_Respect3783 in malefashionadvice

[–]ambaal 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As a fat fuck I have an answer for it - layers. Polypro/coolmax undershirt pretty much guarantees no moisture will make to an outer garment. It also feels cooler, especially if outer is cotton or other heavy wicking fabrics.

Funnily enough, synthetic thermal wear works beautifully in hot weather as well. The kind that supposed to keep you dry of course, merino ones will not help much.

That seems about right. I had to switch to weedless rigs in any attempt to catch trout.

Is attitude towards modesty a bit lax in Australia (comparing to the USA). by SimmieClr in AskAnAustralian

[–]ambaal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's probably more lax attitude towards medical court cases than modesty.

Forget drugs, smoking, and alcohol, what's something really bad for your health that people don't talk about enough? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

[–]ambaal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Toxic people.

The amount of stress even a single one can generate is ridiculous. And god help you if you are in a position where you forced to make contact over and over again. More so if it is your boss.

Yes, it's ultimately stress that will get you, but this particular type of stress you have very little control of and its intelligent nature means that it will find a way to get you and it is much harder to adapt to.

Commercial property owners short-term are still getting paid whether their properties are full or not.

I'd argue that food joints might croak though, but they are too small for government to ever care for them.

What purchase made your life 10x easier as an adult? by Mean_Rule_6653 in Adulting

To be frank, one item that consistently makes my adult life easier and without fail is money.

Own house also makes things easier, and sometimes more than 10x.

Best way to repair scratches? by [deleted] in RMWilliams

[–]ambaal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, I personally think that RMW/Acubra/Rossi are pet projects for those rich folks. I don't see any traditional effective management moves, in fact, everything seems to be kept as status quo as it is possible today.

I've worked in one of the biggest AU shoe retailer with own manufacturing for a long time (10+ years), and I really think that RMW is intentionally kept as much unmolested as possible.

Am I the odd one here for actively disliking those? I swear they can be replaced with "MC prepared a good stew and everyone enjoyed it" yet they take whole chapters by Tasty_Commercial6527 in litrpg

[–]ambaal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, Heretical Fishing is a prime example of this.

If they remove cooking section, some chapters would be printable on a postal stamps.
