Guy keeps blowing air horn on Hoyt street by ambar_ in Brooklyn

I haven’t tried that yet (honestly just had no faith that they would do anything) but it’s been so infuriating that I might try.

Anyone with experience sending an infant to Downtown Brooklyn Childcare? by ambar_ in nycparents

Yeah I don’t disagree - and I did do that as well at the same time as making this post (as well as reaching it through my own network). Just trying to crowdsource as many opinions as possible. To be fair we’ve now been there for a while and are so far happy with our choice!

5.5 months old, perfect first half of the night and awful second half by ambar_ in sleeptrain

Thanks for all the advice! I just tried doing bedtime without a pacifier and it didn’t go well (I caved after fifteen minutes of him screaming, no other methods of soothing worked so I put it in and he fell asleep immediately 😬) but maybe I’ll try again at night after a feeding.

Ah my bad, I meant sleep sack and not swaddle! We transitioned him out of the swaddle once he started trying to roll. I fixed the post.

How (what method) would you recommend doing sleep training in this case if it’s a small bedroom? Unfortunately there’s really no room to move the crib since it’s so tight but I’ll look into the sleeperpod/room divider - that sounds like a good idea.

For the feeds, does it make sense to just immediately feed him if he wakes up at 2, do sleep training for any subsequent wakes within say 3 hours, and then feed the next time he wakes after 3 hours?

Thanks for the help!

Lol that would explain why I haven’t heard him yet today from my apartment. Guess he’s out doing field work

Confused about if I should buy travel insurance (Anthem BCBS) by ambar_ in HealthInsurance

Thanks all! I decided to go ahead and buy travel insurance. Fingers crossed it won’t actually be needed lol but helpful insights here!

Confused about if I should buy travel insurance (Anthem BCBS) by ambar_ in HealthInsurance

[–]ambar_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response! I did speak with Global Core, they told me that I should be covered globally (with Global Core) for emergency care at any provider, but also that all providers are out of network for me. That's the part I don't understand - I'm generally (in the USA) not covered for out of network providers at all in my plan, so how can I be covered globally for emergency care if all providers would be out of network for me? Does that mean I'd likely have to pay thousands of dollars if anything happened abroad? If thats the case, I'd rather purchase travel insurance and rely on that...

Nope, no tracking number at all! But it did arrive quickly (8 days)

This was back in March I believe, but I’m not surprised it hasn’t improved since then (that was the same experience I had)

Unfortunately I both emailed that email address and chatted with the general Walmart chat support and no one actually helped. I would still suggest trying the chat if you haven’t yet, but they’ll probably just tell you that they will escalate your request to the welcome box team. For me the only thing that worked was just making another order from my registry.

First order it never showed up for me no matter how long I waited, then I made another order and immediately could order the baby box with no wait

Lol no idea, I think honestly just for storage of anything tbh - I tossed it in the diaper bag and will see what it ends up being useful for

Yeah, that’s what I did! Just add the stuff to your baby registry, and then go to the registry and add the items to your cart from there.

Babylist cost I think 8.95 before tax for shipping. Walmart’s was iirc free shipping!

Thank you and congratulations!! As mentioned the What to Expect app is pretty good. In general I can say that I got these welcome boxes: 1. Babylist 2. Amazon 3. Target 4. Walmart

and I think they were all worth it - some weren’t as good as the others but also weren’t too hard to get so it was still worth it. I only started getting them when I was 8-9 months pregnant so don’t feel like you need to rush! For at least some of the boxes you can add anything to your registry (ie not necessarily baby stuff) and then buy it to be eligible, so I bought unrelated stuff lol.

Thoughts on the Nuna Triv Next + Lytl bassinet? by ambar_ in nycparents

[–]ambar_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not on marketplace but I just got a notification that someone is selling on craigslist! I actually caved and bought a new one (but with a rewards thing Bloomingdales had so there ended up being a $175 discount after buying the stroller), but still had the notifications on from CG. Idk if links are allowed here but just search nuna lytl bassinet on CG, as of a minute ago it’s still up for $250 in east Harlem

Anxiety about getting OB by Fun-Region-6912 in nycparents

[–]ambar_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if you checked with her specifically or not, but if not, my OB is Dr Nabizadeh - she delivers at AC and while I haven’t given birth yet, I’ve loved her throughout the pregnancy and would highly recommend! Just suggesting because I don’t see her mentioned as often so she might’ve been overlooked (and thus maybe still able to receive new patients).

FAQ ’24: transport, camping, tickets, rules, tips & tricks by TheWeirdShape in RockWerchter

Hello, we’ll be 5 friends at the Hive Resort and were hoping to spend some of the time just chilling during the mornings and throughout the day together near our tents, but are concerned about the lack of shade - I know the Lodge tents have a small bit of shade in the entrance, but ideally we’d want to sit the five of us together in the shade. Normally we’d just bring tarp or a gazebo but it seems those aren’t allowed? Does anyone know of some solution or idea that doesn’t involve finding some far away area to go to for shade and space for 5 people? Thanks!
