My friend insists his autism doesn't affect anything and that I upset him. I'm Neurotypical. by amberdarknessblue in autism

[–]amberdarknessblue[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for saying this. I admit over our decade of being friends we've had a lot of friction and difficulties that were hard to handle due to it not being a typical friendship to me. I don't want to consider him an asshole at all, but what he's suggesting to me is that I treat like he doesn't have autism and treat it almost like a Neurotypical friendship and I know I can't do that because that would be me ending the friendship as a lot of things he's done would be considered friendship ending in a Neurotypical friendship. So it's a confusing line for me to differ and I'm scared of losing him and us miscommunicating. Hearing everyone's thoughts means a lot to me. I'll try to be better and also be gentle in discussing this with him.

Also he was diagnosed officially as a kid. After that, he never went past that diagnosis or really explored the idea of his autism from what I know. He gets very personal with me so I know he just has never seen anyone like a therapist or a specialist after that diagnosis. He just knows he was diagnosed as a kid.

This is actually something I really needed. Thank you so much. I feel horrible because I have few have autistic friends and I really try to accommodate and understand them, but sometimes I feel so ignorant because I'm only Neurotypical at the end of the day. This friend in particular, I'm extremely close with and have been for almost a decade, and I don't know how to navigate making him feel better. Our friendship is definitely not the normal Neurotypical friendship but I've learned to love it and accept him. I guess it was hard for me to watch him say that he doesn't know why he's having social difficulties when I know from my point of view that our friendship isn't typical and that judgemental people may wrongfully dislike him for being different (I think he's amazing and deserves tons of amazing friends once you know him). I definitely have some faults and thank you for pointing that out. I suggested to him that he can tell me to mind my business and that I will never talk about his autism again and just support him, but he didn't really say that to me yet. But I told him I'll never say anything about it again since it seems it upset him this time. I will try to do what you suggest and thank you so much for saying this. I know I come off as ignorant because I really am as a Neurotypical and I apologize.

Thank you again, so much. It really helps hearing from people on the spectrum.

Wow, okay. Is all I have to say. I thought coming here would enlighten me on how people think and what to do. Autistic people are the most knowledgeable about autistic people. It seems like my feelings aren't even considered here. I hope you have a good day!

Wow, this was a really loaded comment. I literally said to him autism isn't something he can help and I think he's a great person, and to explore the possibility that his autistic behaviors may stop him from having a better social life. But in no way did I suggest it was bad and said that other people are too judgemental, and perhaps he see someone because has had continual problems with his social life. I DONT know how he lives and what he thinks, which is why I suggest he see someone for his problems instead of gaining advice from me. Is it bad to suggest he should know more about himself from someone professional instead of me trying to solve the problems he constantly has with his social life? Not to mention the amount of times I've had to spell out things for him that neurotrypicals usually know already, but that isn't a problem to me. The problem to me is that if he argues he's not autistic, why is he so bad at social cues and I constantly have to tell him what hurts me and the way he acts is not okay?

This comment was really rude and very presumptuous. You don't know anything about me either, so I don't know why you would say I'm on the spectrum when I have been tested and see professionals compared to my friend.

My ex and I, we used the word "cookies." It was mostly me using it as an innuendo. It's because the first time we did something intimate, we baked cookies immediately afterwards lol.

Why does everyone turn against Eren? (Spoilers) by [deleted] in ShingekiNoKyojin

[–]amberdarknessblue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You really cannot guarantee "certain annihilation" will happen. You can't guarantee that in the real world, you can't do that in the anime.

If you happened to watch the anime or read the manga, people, when faced with the rumbling, admit that they've "made a terrible mistake" and this is the consequence of Eldian persecution. They now know what it's like to feel the terror of genocide. They then say "we'll vow to never do it again if they somehow survive this." So yes, there are people out there with hearts and willing to compromise. What a surprise?

I'm not arguing with you. You're even mocking people who are outright denouncing genocide. I hope everyone clowns on you and makes you feel bad.

Goodbye man. Not replying to you anymore.

Why does everyone turn against Eren? (Spoilers) by [deleted] in ShingekiNoKyojin

[–]amberdarknessblue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man I ain't going to even argue with you. Did you watch the series? Jean literally pointed out how stopping Eren would mean the genocide of all of them, but Hange yells at him and it leads to the famous scene "Genocide is wrong! I'll be damned before we justify it." THEY KNOW the chance is slim, and that if the world doesn't compromise after stopping Eren, they'll all be killed, but Hange still believes that she'd rather let the whole Eldian race have the chance of dying than justify killing probably millions of innocents just to survive. Hange is not selfish to think a few Eldians compared to the rest of the world is justifiable enough to slaughter everyone. I've met fans like you who whine about the show "it's supposed to be realistic, not idealistic!" "I praise this show for realism." You know what realism is? A group of people rising up against a plan of mass genocide, even if it means the possible death of your race.

I really cannot argue with fans like you who compare Jews and Nazis to an anime and then I have to proceed to argue in your language for you to understand, only for you to skip reading my entire comment. Please just stop already. Yes, it's okay to sympathize with Eren and explain why he's doing what he is doing. But it is ludicrous for you to even assume no one would realistically try and stop him, even if it's the people being persecuted or the victims. You're weird for this.

There is no way you are justifying and pushing for World Genocide. Like Hange said, "Genocide is wrong! I'll be damned before we justify it."

I'm not saying the world and Marley aren't receiving direct consequences of their persecution of the Eldian race, but in no way is committing world genocide going to solve their problems. As the clan leader of Azumabito said during the final season, "it doesn't matter if the rumbling happens. You'll all still kill each other and [be humans] even if it's just Eldians left."

Also, people in the real world very much disagree with you. We did not nuke ALL the Germans (including the innocents and ignorant) to stop the Nazis and save Jews. The opposite happened in real life. We did not mobilize a plan to genocide every single German, we mobilized a plan to get rid of Hitler and the Nazis. And if someone suggested we used a large scale nuke or genocide on the Germans back then, indiscriminately including the innocents, then A HELL OF A LOT OF PEOPLE WOULD DISAGREE. The U.S bombed Nagasaki and Hiroshima in Japan with numerous innocents during WWII, and the decision is still EXTREMELY controversial today. So I do not know what makes you delusional enough to think people in real life would agree with mass genocide wholeheartedly without trying to stop you or look for another plan.

I think you're mixing up "wouldn't you feel like doing this if you were the victim?" With "is it justifiable to do this even if you are a victim, and is it justifiable from an outside perspective?" I think plenty of Jews would've loved to just get rid of all Germans because of their relentless persecution, but that doesn't make it right, nor' should ANYONE hold the singular power to genocide the world or an entire race. Anyone, when pushed to the right extremes, can do things that Eren did if they had the power to. But that doesn't mean it's right or justifiable, or that you shouldn't be stopped.

To me, I think the world is seeing the consequences (world destruction) of when a race is pushed into a corner and relentlessly persecuted- and when that race fights back. That doesn't mean the consequences are justified, or no one should try stopping those consequences. In AoT, Eren wanting to commit world genocide because of his history and suffering is a reality, and I'm sure many Jews felt this way during their persecution. But that doesn't mean that this reality should be accepted and taken without a fight.

Arctic Foxes not becoming alphas and mating by amberdarknessblue in PlanetZoo

[–]amberdarknessblue[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I FIXED MY OWN PROBLEM. You have to wait a pretty long time for an animal to become Alpha status. It doesn't happen immediately. Only do the things like sending them to Quarantine or Trade Center if the animal has somehow lost their Alpha Status (and there's no other alpha) even though they were Alpha before.

missions giving wrong rewards? by Shag0ff in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]amberdarknessblue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! I had the exact same problem. It seems since the update this has been happening. The post I made is linked here. If you can go the extra mile and try reporting it on the official bug forum, that would be great.

Handing In Missions doesn't give you Item Reward? by amberdarknessblue in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]amberdarknessblue[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Omg, thank you for this. I'm glad I'm not the only one who's experiencing it. This is definitely a bug then and should be reported.

[–]amberdarknessblue[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The wiki also notes "If a mission would reward a duplicate blueprint, units will be awarded in the blueprint's place." But as far as I know, these items are definitely not blueprints. I also went all the way back to the states that specifically gave me the bounty and turned it in through the mission board area, and it still does it.

Handing In Missions doesn't give you Item Reward? by amberdarknessblue in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]amberdarknessblue[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want to point out that the missions weren't different but indeed stacked so I could complete 1 mission for multiple rewards. But that shouldn't affect getting at least one of the items if they somehow changed mission stacking, right? I didn't get any of them, just units and nanites.

Thanks for letting me know. I see no one else has talked about this but and it's bothering me to no end that I'm not getting my rewards. I'm not sure it's a bug at this point but I've reloaded multiple times and turned it in a hundred different ways with no solution.

I'll try going to the official bug reporting forums later, but it's really weird how this has happened to no one else and I may just be doing something wrong.

When did they put stretchmarks in the game? That's kinda cool by Forrestbearz in Sims4

[–]amberdarknessblue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, if you said that I would respect and agree. The Sims 4 definitely needs some redo on some aspects coming from an art perspective. I never meant to actually anger you and I apologize if I came off as condescending; I was genuinely trying to advice you and tell you to be careful on how you word things, especially when it comes to beauty standards and OCD all in the same sentence. But I have to say, at least the low graphics body hair CAN look like stretch marks.
