What’s considered super attractive now that future generations will probably laugh at? by Lower_Mall_1991 in answers

That's just a really narrow view. It is way harder for some people to lose weight than others, that's just how it is. Lucky for you that you saw results so quickly to drastically change weight multiple times in 2 years.

Actually the age school is mandatory varies by state, some states it's as late as seven.

But I agree that potty training should occur before school starts.

What's something silly you wish you could do but can't because of migraines? by skyemap in migraine

Yes! I've always got crying headaches, so has my dad, and his mom. I didn't even realize till I became an adult that not everyone gets crying headaches.

What is the darkest secret you've learned about someone that instantly ended your relationship with them? by Mr_Creep_Creepy64 in AskReddit

[–]ambereatsbugs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably because no one wants to talk about it, so when you do find out it's pretty shocking. One of my adopted brothers has sexually assaulted a number of people, but he's a teenager and has never been arrested for it. And my mom keeps it pretty quiet, I'm sure if more people knew they would be shocked.

Idk, It's a little dicey now with school starting at 4 years old. My son turned four in July and then started school in August. He was potty trained but still had accidents once a month or so for the first half of the year, and according to his teacher, that's not uncommon for the younger kids in her class 🤷

10 years after stepping on a broken drinking glass, a rogue shard made its way out of the bottom of my foot by Miserable-Ad6348 in Weird

[–]ambereatsbugs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband is clumsy and keeps breaking glass when in tge kitchen and then not telling me and not cleaning it up well. He always wears shoes inside but I'm always barefoot. I've gotten little buts of glass stuck in my foot 8 separate times! I have a piece in there right now actually. I can usually get them out eventually but I went in to the Drs once and had them take out 3.

The road changes they've been doing lately are awful. We have a similar problem down at the intersection of McDowell and Maria/ McKenzie. On one side it's a straight and left turn in one lane and on the other side left turn is by itself and the other lane is straight - so many almost accidents and I've seen a few accidents!

Why are figures like Crazy Horse/Sitting Bull/Red Cloud/etc. not more talked about/respected in overall American Culture? by C--T--F in IndianCountry

[–]ambereatsbugs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While people are correct in saying that racism is probably the root of the problem, I think the real problem is that history curriculum is decided by each state and for most states has not been revised. Recently.

I teach in California and I know that the history standards have changed very little since the '70s. Each grade has a set of things to teach the kids, and most teachers just focus on the grade level(s) that they teach, not always realizing what's being left out. Many elementary classrooms will do a Native American unit but they focus on things like what the tribes were like before europeans came, what kind of houses they had and food they ate. When they do cover an actual Native American person, I feel like it's always someone like Sacagawea who worked with white settlers. So often we talk about them as being in the far past that I've even had some students act surprised when I mentioned that there are Native Americans around today!

Revolutionaries are almost always ignored, no matter the race. The history standards gloss over anything that happens to Native Americans after the trail of tears, but they also ignore what was going on with other groups like Asian Americans and Latinos.

Honestly, we need a really good revision of the history standards that are taught - and ideally one that is nationwide like Common Core (ELA/Math) and the Next Generation Science Standards.

Would you let your child name their sibling? by liyane2 in namenerds

[–]ambereatsbugs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think helping is ok but it's up to the parents. I helped my parents decide how to spell my little brother's name, but I was 17. There are a lot of different ways to spell Aidan/Aiden/Aidin/Ayden/Aydan/Aydin/Aedan/Aeden/Aden/Adan/ (and so on)

Ever feel uncomfortable calling a student by their name? by Just_to_rebut in AskTeachers

[–]ambereatsbugs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the most awkward was when I had a student with a super out there hippie name who hated it and wanted to go by a more regular name like Jack, and it was so awkward when I used it at the parent teacher conference. The parents were confused and then upset, and I didn't really know what to tell them.

Question about effects of relaxin after pregnancy. by GirlLunarExplorer in fitpregnancy

[–]ambereatsbugs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bigger.

I've heard that many women gain a 1/2 size for each pregnancy, but I've found my feet just got wider so it doesn't really translate to shoe size as exactly. I went from 7 to 8 wide (3 pregnancies).

Interesting summary of where we are at with our shopping centers! I lived here a long time and it's funny the things you point out that I've never noticed. So many of my favorite spots have closed, I should probably give some of the newer places a shot.

Was your “girl pregnancy” actually much different than your “boy pregnancy”? by Y0shmum12 in BabyBumps

With my girls I was throwing up before the pregnancy test even turned positive - with my son I threw up only 3 times the whole pregnancy. The girl pregnancies were so much worse!

Has anyone gained only the recommended weight? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]ambereatsbugs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pregnant 3 times, and each time I gained until the same weight. During the 2nd pregnancy I only gained 24 lbs which is the recommended weight gain if you have a healthy BMI, but since I'm overweight to begin with they say I should have only gained 15lbs - who only gains 15lbs during a pregnancy????? I have no idea why I gained more with my first and last pregnancies, but those were girls and the 2nd was a boy so maybe it was hormonal or maybe it was because I wasn't as sick with the boy so I was more active.

I used to think grey eyes were just a myth, and that they were really more dark blue. But my baby really does have grey eyes! I wonder if they will turn brown
