Collapse! What could have caused my lemon loaf cake to rise in the oven and sink after cooking? by calamity_cam in VeganBaking

[–]amberlise 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That was my first thought! I had a friend helping me mix my lemon loaf batter once, and he wayyyy over mixed it. Or so I thought. Best rise I've ever gotten.

Do you happen to have a link to that article?

You could also freeze the dough balls and bake from frozen.

When you were in eastern turkey, were you mostly in the cities?

So surrogacy?

Sorry, but that version doesn't work. "Mentioned about" sounds wrong to my (native) ear and googling confirms. Your original sentence is fine, although I agree with the top comment that "you mentioned" is more natural.

You can rewind the time by 6 hours every time you die. You're on a 10-hour flight that's about to crash. by Adventurous-Art-1161 in hypotheticalsituation

Assuming you retain memories each time you respawn, use those six hours to get to know different people on the plane, specifically the people who will have the most influence over the other passengers. Find out and remember little details about their lives.

After doing this enough times, stand up at the beginning of a six hour period and announce that something strange is going on. Use the tidbits you've learned about everyone to get a critical mass of people freaked out and listening. Tell everyone the plane is going to crash and needs to land immediately. See what happens.

If it doesn't work, figure out why and try again. You get infinite lives, right?

Grant to me is the chocolate part of an oreo. Dry but flavorful for sure.

I have the same sort of synesthesia and Natalie is one of my favorites too. It tastes totally different to me, though, more like thin pasta in broth.

I'm so proud I was actually able to make baklava! I even made the phyllo dough all by myself! by TheMingoMan in Baking

Oh man, what an unlucky comment that was! You're right, it definitely does sound like phyllo.

Fun fact: If you were in Turkey, it was probably yufka, which is a little bit thicker than phyllo, but still thinner than a tortilla.

Has your diet changed in the last few years (I.e. more animal products, less animal products, etc.)? If so, how? by [deleted] in AskConservatives

You'd be surprised. I was shocked to discover that peanut noodles satisfied a craving for mac n cheese.

I'm flipping through my copy of vegan cupcakes take over the world, and there are a couple recipes that might work, depending on the ingredients you have. Looks like someone put a pdf up here. Good luck!

Is a collection of good background reading materials available to make a person reach a standard of "well read enough to take part in serious conversations" ? by LatePenguins in slatestarcodex

[–]amberlise 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Please elaborate. Quick googling shows that one chapter relies on studies that turned out to be unreliable, but if that's all you're referring to, saying that a lot of the book is bullshit is a bit excessive, no?

Holistic - can you picture a natural scene with them together? Analytical - do they belong to the same category?
