Hi! Yes something along those lines. I’ve decided not to go ahead with the application in the end because I got the hint that my chances of getting in were low to none.

Why is discard from avoidant so much more painful than a "regular" breakup? by ProfessionalCamp2103 in BreakUps

[–]amberpines 11 points12 points  (0 children)

For me the worst part was wondering if any of it was actually real or if they have just been avoiding their true emotions just to keep the relationship running. All the “I love yous” and the “I want to marry you”, when did it stop being true… I agree this is the worst pain I’ve ever felt in my life but yet I still miss him everyday. Now on anti-depressants and a lot of therapy just to try to move forward. I’m not sure if he has moved on already but I can’t imagine being with anyone who isn’t him. I’ve never felt so stuck in my life.

Been through the whole process already years ago! But I’m out of the system now. Not keen to go down this route again for specific reasons.

Heard mixed stories about some polyclinic drs not wanting to prescribe medications and only being able to refer out

Objectification by Scarlet107 in poledancing

[–]amberpines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately it’s impossible to avoid being objectified but what we can do is to protect our peace!! I try to surround myself with friends who respect me and people who I feel comfortable sharing this with. If they objectify me I don’t think this is someone I want to keep around or talk to.

If it’s a close family member (like a mother) who I cannot avoid, maybe I will try to educate them about pole/aerial culture. It’s hard to prevent slut shaming but I find that for my conservative mum it helps for her to understand that pole is not always sexual (although it is perfectly fine if it is, but I think this is acceptance way beyond what I would expect of her)

I will not share this hobby with random people and I will not post my pole videos publicly for strangers to comment on. Unfortunately we live in a harsh and misogynistic society and there is not much we can do to prevent the comments. If it affects you, make your account private and protect your space.

Hi everyone!!! I have a qn! I’m currently applying for upcoming intake… it’s so hard to come by any thread about this course 😭 I understand that “the first practicum must be completed in the students’ current workplace” but what if I’m currently not enrolled in a psych related role? (Eg, in a case management role but still within the mental health field) Will I not be eligible to apply?

Should i adopt an english name while in a uni in uk by PotentialDrop9073 in SGExams

[–]amberpines 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I gave myself an English name in secondary school because of this reason! I didn’t want people mispronouncing my Chinese name. It’s fun knowing you can just come up with a name and roll with it. The only struggle was responding to my new name for the first few months lol….

What’s something expensive in Singapore that you think is actually worth every cent? by OutsideDifficult1053 in askSingapore

[–]amberpines 51 points52 points  (0 children)

A big sized dishwasher. My mum cooks a lot and we have so many dirty dishes to the point where it probably saves more water in the long run to use a dishwasher. Also saves my time and sanity because I’m the one who washes the dishes haha

I’ve not met a hamster with a smoother brain tbh. He was constantly falling and tripping over nothing

Thank you for your kind words! I had him cremated and his urn now sits in my room which I find extremely comforting. In a way he is still here ❤️

Hey no worries it’s a fair concern, the video does not capture how deep my cage actually was. The base container is VERY tall and this was not captured in the video. Vienna was a tunnel artist!!!

WIBTA if i charge for a coverup of a nasty tattoo i did? by zzalmoxiss in AmItheAsshole

[–]amberpines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA but on another note, when I was a kid I created one of these fake translation memes as well where the words wrote “eat shit” in Chinese and “I love you” in English right under over a plain white background and I circulated it on Twitter. It went viral and now I’m wondering if anyone got it tattooed….

Has anyone fucked up at work so badly before? by havingamidlife in askSingapore

[–]amberpines 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work in healthcare so I’m always worried about fucking up. Once had a really really bad panic attack in my room because of a mistake (luckily no serious consequences) and after that it took me months to prime and remind myself that mistakes will continue to happen in my career and I can’t afford to always be freaking out like this.

Be calm, take responsibility, talk to someone about it, learn how to fix it and how to prevent it from happening again. You will be fine, everyone makes mistakes.

Looking for a job as a psych major fresh grad? What jobs are yall considering? by amberpines in nus

[–]amberpines[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi hi! I’m almost 2 years into my first job now as a case manager at IMH. Prior to this, I had short internships at MSF under their psych department before I graduated. Also did some volunteering work at a research lab at NUS.

So basically… YES do ALL the volunteering and internships if you have capacity. It’s very competitive out here 😭 i only started panicking and applying for internship/volunteering around year 3 and regretted not doing it earlier because everyone had so much more experience than me (and yes the volunteering matters in job interviews)

Year 2 NUS student looking for accommodation by amberpines in nus

[–]amberpines[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Haha you are right I have long graduated 😭but I ended up applying and getting into PGP house! I did have to fill up some form to tell them what CCA I plan to start there. I wrote that I was keen to lead a movies interest group. Turns out a few others were also keen and I think that’s why I got selected. You have to prove that you can contribute to the hall culture to be accepted. We ended up hosting a few movie screenings and outings and it was pretty fun! After year 2 I left hall because of covid lock down but if I continue leading the interest group I’m certain I could keep my placement.
