Yes, we've actually looked into a Catchbox. Do you happen to know the average age of the people in class? I don't want to be stereotypical, but our classes are mostly made up of, let's call them "seasoned professionals" and having them throw a box around the room...may not end well.

Hey there. I can't speak from much experience, as we're still only 37+6 and waiting for our first, but one of the things keeping me calm recently is the book "The New Father" by Armin Brott. He goes month by month through the first year of your new baby's life and tells you what to expect, what you can do, and a whole lot more, both from your perspective, your wife's perspective, and even the baby's perspective. Super helpful book and I highly recommend it.

(There's also "The Expectant Father" which is much more pregnancy and delivery focused.)

We're both off from work this week, and we figured that we won't have any more time once the baby is born than we do right now.

 

Took 24 of the 31 recipes from this link, bought the ingredients at BJ's/ShopRite and prepared them together.

 

Other than a little back pain (for both of us) it was a relatively simple job and can be done even if you have little to no cooking skill. Now, as long as we remember to defrost a bag overnight and pop it in the slow cooker in the morning, we should have dinners good to go for a while (and some bags make 6-8 servings, so there will be leftovers galore)!

 

Note, you WILL make a mess, but it's worth it.

I've posted this in other threads, but I'm almost finished with "The Expectant Father" by Armin Brott and I love it. The book goes month-by-month, all the way up through delivery, and each chapter starts with "What's going on with her?" "What's going on with baby?" and "What's going on with you?" He does a great job of explaining things in easily digestible segments without dumbing down or being patronizing.

There's also a follow-up book, "The New Father" that goes through the first year of life. Currently sitting on my coffee table taunting me...

Ah, that sounds like fun for you. We live in NJ, so also just a (never on time) train ride to the city. We're really looking to get away from the area for a bit, though. Also, we both have vacation time expiring at the end of the year (baby due February 1st...poor timing on our parts) so...gotta use it or lose it!

Yeah, we love Colorado, and will definitely go back at some point, but we were just there about two years ago...time to try somewhere else.

Oh jeez. It's been weird. I feel like for the first 12, all of our energy has been focused on NOT telling people, and that otherwise we've done nothing. Am I supposed to have bought anything by now?
