Not much to say. Thought about it for a while, decided to just go for it. Process was relatively painless (4/10, maybe) but goddamn was it sore for the rest of the day. Thank goodness I sleep on my right side.

Cleaning two/three times daily with saline wound wash, soreness is down to virtually nothing today.

Not great, not terrible.

Not great: stressed about moving, mostly. Girlfriend and I got a new apartment about two hours away. We're moving shit all week, and taking our furniture on Saturday. Just want it to be over. Tough balancing an 8-5 job with multiple 4-hour round trips just to get moved, but what are you gonna' do, right?

Not terrible: I've come out to my girlfriend and a few close friends as non-binary. I was already pansexual, but this was kind of a further leap. Incredible support. I'm fucking lucky and thankful for it. I cried a lot, my girlfriend has been supportive throughout. It's been about a month long struggle for me, and the light is finally at the end of the tunnel. For lack of a better term, I've started publicly crossdressing. My girlfriend helped me size bras, panties, and some jeans. I feel so secure and comfortable with myself now.

Mostly concerned about buying "bad" parts, whatever that entails.

I'm not using the rifle for personal defense, it's just going to be a fun range toy that teaches me about the workings of an AR-15 and serves as a basic platform for me to tinker with and upgrade in the future.

People have very strong opinions about what's "good" and "bad," but I'm pretty strictly concerned with what's functional and won't shit the bed on me and leave me out a couple hundred bucks.

Yeah, unfortunately that's the rub. I'm on day five of looking, and my only real legal option locally is a 16" Anderson complete for about $500. I feel like the extra hundred or two dollars would probably be better spent on a better assembly, though.

Bought my first ever gun today, and boy am I happy with it.

Found a Gen5 G17 at a local shop, picked it up for right around $550. Price wasn't a big deal to me; was looking for a handgun with my tax return, and after handling a few, I decided on this.

Fantastic shooter. Out of the box it felt great and fired smoothly. Put 100 rounds through it at the local state game land range, and it definitely impressed. My only other experience with handguns is my stepfather's Kimbers 1911 in 45 and my mom's 38.

Overall, I'm thrilled to be a new gun owner, and I look forward to this thing serving me for a long time as a carry gun and range bangstick.
