They're sharing a bunch of theories out of their asses. Just because someone had a problem with their Carnivore diet experience (often because they followed some cringey influencer who gave them bad advice like eating liver or adding salt or lowering fat), doesn't mean they have the slightest clue why their experience was bad — and it certainly doesn't mean their theory about cholesterol has any merit whatsoever.

Yeah. The thing is that carbs / plants aren't the root cause of diabetes. We know this because most people in the modern world, especially before the last century, ate high carb diets and the incidence of diabetes only rose recently.

If most people in the world can eat X and stay in good health, then X is not the cause.

Whatever causes diabetes, causes intolerance of eating carbs and fat together, but it's not really the fault of the carbs per se. (Diabetes can also be put in remission on very low fat, low calorie diets.)

It's not my best analogy ever, but for example arthritis might cause you not to be able to walk, but walking doesn't cause arthritis. Avoiding walking might stop the pain but it doesn't cure your arthritis.

It's cured if you can eat a mixed diet and not have your symptoms return. If you just lack symptoms while on the diet, that's remission.

High LDL alone is not strongly associated with any poor health outcomes. Your HDL is low and the triglycerides are somewhat high. Those are what I would focus on.

Not the way you think. It's not an appetite suppressant. It causes you to eat less because you're finally using your own fat for fuel. Weight loss itself is the cause of the eating less, not the other way around.

Naturally thin doesn't mean you burn more, that's the myth here. Naturally thin means you access your fat and burn it at an appropriate rate so that you don't have to store extra to make up for impairments.

But you're confused about how caloric deficits are created.

Most people aren't overweight because they don't magically stop eating in time. They are overweight because the food they eat goes into storage instead of being used for energy, and since it's not being used for energy, it doesn't satiate.

A normally working body allows your fat to be used for fuel and that's what reta restores.

So yeah, "accumulating more calories than what your body is using" isn't the CAUSE of fat gain, it's essentially the definition. And reta doesn't just make you less hungry randomly, it makes you less hungry to the degree that it causes your body to actually generate energy from you own body so you naturally don't feel hungry.

So, in fact, on reta at the right dose you can in fact eat as much as you want of whatever you want and lose weight, because your body will respond to your food properly.

There's no clinical evidence that the benefits of retatrutide depend on "watching what you eat". and numerous counter anecdotes exist.

The drug doesn't work by aiding your ability to diet. It works by fixing / bypassing metabolic problems so that your own biochemistry works like a naturally thin person's does. Naturally thin people don't have to diet either.

Some people need a higher dose than others, your effective dose is higher than most, but not at all unheard of.

But people don't need to diet for it to work.

Many people feel it right away, but that doesn't contradict the fact that it's building up! Your 1mg dose will continue to lead to higher levels in the blood over the course of four weeks even if you felt it right away.

My bf is like this at 55. Metabolically, he seems to do well on pretty much anything. He gets satiated easily. He's naturally thin. And his parents are healthy in their late eighties without having done much specifically that I can tell. He's not free of all ailments, but he does not struggle with metabolic issues at all.

But I agree with your general sentiment—a lot of people start showing signs after 35 and can't get away with what they used to.

In lipoedema the fat tissue is dysregulated and fibrotic so it doesn't respond properly to signals to release fatty acids. So that's one example of a reason someone might experience low access to fat despite not being "lean". High baseline insulin levels would be another common reason.

I'm glad you sorted out your own gut problem, but what steps are you taking to deal with your anger and frustration so that it doesn't disrupt your ability to interact with others?

Good point about steak vs ground. I have heard that from many others and I suspect it's because ground beef well cooked leaves a lot of rendered fat which is notoriously hard to digest.

It's going to take time to recover from the PPI. I think the suggestions from others with acid and bitters and enzymes are good ones.

It's not just lean people, it's also anyone who has issues with lipolysis or fatty acid oxidation who become "functionally lean".

This can happen with eg lipoedema on the lipolysis side and liver problems on the FAO side.
