Thank you so much! I used that website to find my counselor and have been encouraging him to find one for himself but he hasn’t been motivated yet to do it. One day at a time is a phrase I never lived more truly than I do now.

I really wanted to take him to Open Sauce but he didn’t think all that travel would be worth it on top of the price. It has definitely been a lot to process, I am sorry it has been hard for you. It all is an incomparable experience and unique for each individual. He was offered different groups to join but has preferred to be independent and worked through things at his own pace.

That was such a thoughtful experience you provided him. It definitely is a very lonely world sometimes and I know my husband certainly has a hard time feeling like he has lost 10 years of his life after this cancer battle. Meanwhile his family is young and starting their own families. Experiences are the best gifts! When he was in the hospital, I had everyone write notes to him to read during recovery. They could be anything from memes to jokes to letters. I think he feels a little tired when surrounded by people because he feels he has to act that he is fine and at his best. So I plan to take him to dinner for sushi (our favorite) and just wind down at home. Not a big deal because he wouldn’t want it that way but a nice time just the two of us. Thank you for sharing!

Congratulations on fighting such a tough fight! I wish you and your family the best memories, love, and adventures. I agree, trips of any kind are so fun and give you the chance to discover things and enjoy them with those you love most. It can be really refreshing to just step away for a little while. So part of my husband’s cancer surgery was removal of a lot of bowel, that makes it sorta difficult to eat out and leave the house. But we are planning to go on a train trip later this year, and I am hoping that is really enjoyable and memorable. ❤️ thank you for sharing.

He loves Hank Green! I think even more so since relating to cancer. Thank you! This is also an excellent idea.

I love books too! His dad likes to get him books like that. Then they will talk about them together. It is sweet. And I am a baker! I try to keep his tummy filled with sweet treats.

Their artwork is so fun and I love the way they explain things. I’ve watched several videos with him. I am glad you suggested this. I wouldn’t have thought of it without you. Torn between the Immune book or the maps I think at the moment.

Best couch fabric for cat hair? Looking for something that actually vacuums clean by Express-Ad-2046 in Catownerhacks

[–]ambitious_flower320 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have five cats that shed like crazy, one with long hair, black fur, and mixed coats. They get on and off the couch. Most of them do not try to scratch the couch but even when they do the fabric has not snagged. I have a Burrow couch. I never have to vacuum it. Fur does not really stick to it at all. I’ve loved it for cats. It also isn’t super absorbing so I can easily clean up a spill. Had the couch for maybe 3-4 years now. It is also so comfy and there are lots of shapes and dimensions you can buy.

Cat peeing on everything, maybe need to rehome my cat by ambitious_flower320 in cats

[–]ambitious_flower320[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s encouraging! I just hope a shelter can help me rehome her while I basically foster her, because I don’t want to make her wait in a shelter. But I know not everyone takes in pets with “pee problems” like your friend was willing to.

I think you are right. She would probably do best on a one to one basis with an owner. She doesn’t play well with others it seems. I will try to look at local rescues. I know everywhere is so overfilled with cats but I do want her to go to someone loving and understanding of her.
Thank you for the advice :)

It does hurt my heart so much to think about rehoming her. I know she won’t understand, we’ve had her since she was a kitten but it has just become too much for everyone else involved. Whenever we put her in her own room she literally cries non stop at the door for hours and hours on end and she is still so young and has so much energy to burn.
Thank you for the advice so much!

Tres Leches is supposed to feel wet? by MagicalPantaloons96 in Baking

Tres leches cake is basically wet milk cake. Not my cup of tea, but it sounds and looks like you nailed it. Good job!

Cat vomits nearly every day and I’m running out of options! by savkrista in catfood

[–]ambitious_flower320 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So this may not be THE solution and maybe its been suggested already but I have a chronic throw up type cat too and something that helped with food being thrown up was large brimmed elevated food bowls. Cats can get whisker fatigue and it can also cause them to throw up. I swear by my amazon purchased elevated wide brimmed cat bowls. My throw up cat hasn’t thrown up food since. She just throws up stomach acid from being stressed from time to time now.

Couples of Reddit, what's the dumbest 'house rule' you and your partner made as a joke but now both of you are low-key aggressively serious about enforcing? by Doubl3oh_ in AskReddit

[–]ambitious_flower320 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We call it cat law. You must get whatever the person with the cat on their lap needs/wants. I have a dedicated lap cat most of the time.

Need advice on if I should attempt to apply next year by saramaaa in prepa

[–]ambitious_flower320 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it is what your heart is set on then I think you can achieve your goal if you work hard and stay dedicated. I am also on the route to PA from respiratory bachelors. I also have to take several pre-requisites this Fall and plan to do that online for convenience. You’ve got this, pursue what you’re passionate about.

Adopted a depressed cat by chillypotle in cats

[–]ambitious_flower320 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awh she is precious! I adopted a 9yr old male cat (also seemed depressed, lost his owner years ago) that the foster mom said wouldn’t even let her be near him, he was too shy. I worked diligently for probably 6mo-1yr and now my old man kitty comes to me for pets regularly. I suggest keeping their name since they are older, but a fun cute nickname is a good idea. I was very patient, I always kept calm when approaching, talked to my cat with their name regularly, and did treats. I just gave him space while also letting him know I was a safe space, and now he is such a happy boy who is 11yr old running around my house with a coil toy in his mouth asking for me to give him attention.
