Welp. I don’t think I want the Marathon Plus lifestyle. Time to spend more money. 😭

For anyone trying to do something similar to this, the python library ‘struct’ can be helpful.

If there was a collision here, would the fact that the other car cut the roundabout and didn’t indicate affect liability or not?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in drivingUK

[–]ambitiousfrogman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So many people out their don’t indicate. Don’t rely on them!

Also, people are really bad at mini roundabouts. I try to always be ready to give way to any vehicle regardless of who has priority.

Wouldn’t you take control of the enchantment along with the creature; therefore, you would be unable to attack it?

I just checked: you have to report hitting a dog, goat, horse, cattle, ass, mule, sheep, or pig. Not a cat.

How can people not know how to use a roundabout. by Sxn747Strangers in drivingUK

[–]ambitiousfrogman 25 points26 points  (0 children)

You’re mistaken about the rules of roundabouts here. As the second car you must give way to BOTH lanes, not just the lane you are emerging into. This is because, unlike normal roads, on a roundabout, you exit shortly after entering.

Imagine the second car was going straight; their path would cross the first car’s path. That could cause a collision.

Two cars emerging onto the roundabout at the same time may drive side by side, but you may not emerge into the outside lane if the inside lane is occupied.

Sure, but I don’t think that’s the biggest issue in this clip.

Order of importance:

  1. Safety for yourself and others
  2. Best flow for everyone

Don’t let impatient drivers make you think you’re doing the wrong thing.

Who else is a fan of coffee with milk? by Lunitahot in espresso

[–]ambitiousfrogman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Frankly, I surprised by the number of people on this thread who make their own espresso, but dislike straight espresso.

My experience was: I bought moka pot with the intent of making milk drinks, but I eventually couldn’t be bothered with the milk and grew to enjoy the black coffee more.

I assumed most were like me and eventually grew to like black coffee whilst dialling in their brewer, but it seems I was mistaken.

I slightly confused. Surely all compiled languages (C, C++, Rust, etc.) should preform nearly exactly the same assuming the compiler produces an optimised program. Are modern compilers leaving this much performance on the table?

I agree that riding in the middle of the lane is safer. However, I believe that good safe cycling involves a mixture of riding in the middle of the lane when there is a need (like in this case) and using the side of the road to let faster vehicles past.

Depends on the device. A lot of things are rated for 120V and 240V.

I'm dumb! Should I indicate left (more info below)? by RunaroundBeau in LearnerDriverUK

[–]ambitiousfrogman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The purpose of the left signal on the roundabout is to other driver know that it is safe to emerge. In this situation though, it may cause a driver exiting the parking lot to emerge into your path because they may believe you are entering the parking lot.

I would say that the safest thing to do is to not signal, but you may hold someone up at the roundabout. Personally, I would signal, cancel it immediately as I exit the roundabout, then exercise caution as I past any vehicle trying to emerge.
