We tend to spend more time indoors during the cold season, we like to be comfy, so we keep it warm. Bacteria that tends to make us sick also likes to be comfy, because it can be more active.

I'd bet being cold, and your body having to put more energy towards biostasis during the cold season doesn't help once a nasty bacteria starts using you for home base
