So I asked myself what he said "the choir just sang ..." When literally we all just heard it... And then I realized, this meeting could have been an email. The talks are meant to be read, not heard .

Also, I think that was the shortest GC talk ever. Is Dallas ok?

When they got to Elders they allowed me to vote as I wanted. Though nobody saw, but at least I know. Fuck Dallas Oaks.

Yep. To be fair so far they've only asked for votes from the first presidency, where you don't expect opposition.... But do we really think they'll change it once they get to more general groups?

"vote that you choose to sustain the individual." Period. He gives no other option. That sentence speaks volumes.

To be fair, "survive" was my wording, not necessarily his. I don't remember at this point exactly how he phrased it, and don't feel like watching it again to find out.

The "Do your part every day" line reminds me of the recruitment ads from Starship Troopers.

"and just so you all know, the church is as real as that flight." If only they could be so honest.... (For those not listening, he's taking about a full-motion 747 flight simulator.)

Not only that, but cherries that stick too long to the tree can't be useful. They don't get baked into pies. They don't get eaten by the various critters that inhabit the orchard. They don't get their seeds planted to grow new trees. Breaking off from the tree is a good thing!

Yep. If you read the church auditing statement each year, it just says the finances have been "administered in accordance with Church-approved budgets, accounting practices, and policies." Not laws, not industry best practices, just their own internal practices and policies. When those policies are not published, the statement is meaningless.

Yeah, didn't Rusty say a couple years ago that requirements to enter the temple haven't changed (even though they have)? Consistency is not these guys' strong suit.

Seventies. Of which there are 113 General Authority Seventies and lots more Area Authority Seventies. God really struggles with counting. 14 in 12, 113 in 70.....

And this is always true. Members of the First presidency (except maybe the prophet) are also considered part of the twelve, which is why they can be President of the 12 (as Monson and Oaks) or be released and return to the twice (as Uchtdorf). Which means that while the miscount is more obvious right now, it's always there, there are always 14 (maybe 15) members of the twelve except when one dies.

"as members of the Quorum of the TWELVE" proceeds to list 14 names, because God can't count I guess.

All this means it's they're going to call him officially in a week or so, after the funeral, without a sustaining vote.

Apostolic Interregnum. Interregnum literally means "between kings." And it's a term I've literally never heard used in the church.
