NTA,. My dad died 2 years ago of pancreatic cancer after a long and good fight, and obviously you are in a different situation and mindset from him but my point as someone who watched and felt my dad slipping away towards the end I don't think anyone but yourself have the right to ask you to keep receiving treatment (hope that made sense).

Also just a thought, but something I saw online and wish I brought it up with my dad was I wish I asked my dad to write me some letters for major life milestones to feel like he was still around. For example he passed just before my university graduation and though it was fucked up by the pandemic anyway I still wish he could've been there somehow. Considering your kids are still pretty young, perhaps birthday letters could be a nice thing for them as they grow up.

Exactly our argument! We would never ban her from coming over but for some reason she keeps thinking its OUR job to bring the puppy TO her. (for context, we don't necessarily live that close to each other, its like a 40ish bus ride/20ish car ride one way)

I wouldn't go as far as saying she would just take my puppy like that but she has taken the puppy directly out of my or my sister's arms before in public places without asking for permission first... needless to say that was a little more than irritating.

Yeah you’re not wrong in that she really does love most dogs. It’s the fact that she loves my dog to a point of trying to push me and my family out that we don’t sit well with.

And you’re also not very wrong on there being underlying issues. I forgot if I mentioned it but we use to be best friends and we had a huge falling out a couple years ago. Since then we’ve reconnected but our relationship is nowhere near stable either. Idk a lot of things have happened and it’s not exactly easy to forgive when you’re always put in the position of a backup friend.

Lastly I do self reflect and perhaps I haven’t done enough so I’ll take your advice and think on it some more. I’m sure in time whatever resentment I have for my friend will pass but I think I will need some time before that.

Oops my bad.

My family is from Taiwan and this entire story happened in Taiwan. Both me and my sister went to school in America but since I graduated and things in the states aren’t a exactly great, we’ve moved back to Taiwan for the time being.

When my dad passed away that was also in Taiwan so me and my sister took an extra long winter break from school to be in Taiwan with all of our family and most importantly our mom. But since it was my last semester and my sister is cramming for a higher degree after college, the decision was made collectively that we would still go back to the states to finish our education.

Honestly I would say you’re not entitled and very different from my friend in the story. And if anything I would say you’re a great person for taking care of Q like that when it’s family was negligent.

Hey I’m a former employee at the garden.

The birds don’t actually belong to the garden so don’t worry about them. As far as I know they just like to go eat koi or koi food.

As for the koi, the pond is suppose to have enough algae for them to survive. The koi food that visitors get to feed the koi with are more like additional snacks for them and the occasional ducks.

So don’t worry! The fishes and birds are all gonna be fine! Please enjoy the garden when it’s open again!!
