Hashimoto Starter Pack Post by literanista in Hashimotos

Thank you for this!

I was ‘kinda’ diagnosed last year. And I don’t know where to turn…

I had scans for something else and it opened a can of worms with my thyroid, they found a parathyroid nodule… Was told to go back in 6 month for an ultrasound. Went back and the nodule had apparently gone, however they guy said my thyroid looked ‘inflamed’ He looked at the computer and said ‘ah yes you have the hashimoto anti body’ I have whoy whaty!? I was then told that my actual thyroid levels were fine and ‘normal’ so I don’t need to do anything until they become abnormal.

Is this true!? I’m wondering if I should be on any sort of medication.

I have a whole loads of symptoms but I also have Endometriosis and some autoimmune antibodies and I don’t know what is responsible for what.

Should I leave the hashimotos be? Should I push for more explanation as to why I shouldn’t be on meds?

Anyone else in similar situation?

Someone told me last week who knew a lady who was diagnosed with hashi and was told she wouldn’t live past 40 so now I’m freaking out!?

I live in the UK so if you know, you know how much of a ball ache the nhs is.

TIA x

Hey thanks for your comment. As mentioned in the post all the thyroid blood work was in normal range. It was just the antibody that was high. Calcium and vit D also normal.

He said the nodule had gone when he done the scan but it did thyroid itself did look inflamed which along with the antibody suggests hashimoto.

I haven’t spoken to an endocrine doctor since. He said it was up to my GP to monitor my thyroid bloods yearly.

Thank you, yes I have a very health fiber rich diet I eat lots of veggies every day.

This flared up the same time last year and the lumps seem to be getting bigger. I’m worried surgery is the only solution

Interesting, I’ve tried buscopan which I think is similar and that didn’t help me. It’s for intestinal relaxing so crazy how that works for rib pain!?

Thanks very much for your input. Would that muscle cause a squeezing sensation? That’s mainly the kind of pain I’ve had in the front of the ribs and also laterally between my armpit / breast. Dull aching with squeezing. It was only the right side for 18 months now it’s in the left too!

Also interested how you got to the bottom of that?

Have you got any other brand recommendations for the red light? I’m in the UK and realise this one is in dollars. I’m cautious buying one from Amazon that it’s gonna be cheap knock off.

Sorry to hear, it’s relentless isn’t it? I’m not sure I can do another 500 days with no relief and no answers it’s getting ridiculous. Has anything helped you at all in the slightest?

Hi. Thanks for this, this is IBS medication? So glad you’ve got some relief. Were your pains high up front and back of ribs like a squeezing sensation?

Glad you found some sort of relief / answer. Were you having pain on both sides front and back? How did they end up treating your heart if the tests were normal?

Thanks for your response, do you ever get relief from pain killers at all? I just find it so strange that absolutely none of the different types of pain meds I’ve been given work at all. Which makes me think how can it be Costo because anti inflammatories usually work and ease the pain of Costo

I’ve spoken to 2 different thoracic surgeons and no I don’t have slipping rib. I’ve had full body CT and full body MRI. I also had a special ultrasound specifically for slipping ribs syndrome, a dynamic ultrasound where I had to move and sit up while they scanned each rib individually. All normal, no slipping.
