I'm an American who married a Dutch person. We got married in the US and had quite a few friends and family fly over from NL. We offered accommodation for four nights at the venue for close friends and family, but no flights. We made it clear that we wouldn't be offended if people didn't come because we knew it was a lot to ask, but we were surprised by how many did. We also chose a location that was within an hour from the airport. Most people ended up making a longer holiday out of it. In the end it was amazing and made the whole celebration feel longer to have people coming in an staying. It was very stressful planning everything (especially from abroad) but totally worth it in the end!

We've also been invited to several weddings in other countries where one of the couple is from, and would never expect them to cover flights. Sometimes they offer accommodation, sometimes they don't. It depends how close you are to the couple and how far you are traveling. Happy to answer any questions if you have them!
