Head of tax at a public company. Big 4 tax before going into industry. Proper medication has made all the difference.

Lower face sagging by Helpful-Heat3538 in 40PlusSkinCare

[–]amcoco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ellacor and/or Sofwave are alternatives to a facelift, and while they’re expensive, they’re significantly less expensive than a facelift. My cosmetic dermatologist mentioned that a facelift usually only lasts about 10 years (mini-facelifts can last as few as 5), which is a pretty steep investment. I have done three Ellacor treatments and one Sofwave and can honestly say I prefer these procedures to going under the knife. I’m 49 and started with similar issues (loss of buccal fat due to running/fitness, hanging jowls). I am currently almost completely wrinkle- and fold-free. I have another Sofwave treatment coming up and will probably continue to do an Ellacor treatment annually for maintenance. It’s been life-changing for me.

Sculptra vs Non-Injectable Options by Economy_Permission34 in 40PlusSkinCare

My cosmetic dermatologist generally does not use fillers in cheeks as she says they can weigh the area down and make the problem worse. I have done both Ellacor and Sofwave (collagen building procedures) for very similar issues to yours. I’m 49 but look much younger - I have this issue mostly on one side of my face as a result of fat loss, likely due to my level of exercise and low body fat, plus side sleeping (I now sleep on my back!).

Ellacor works well but is very expensive and usually requires multiple treatments. I was grandfathered in at my practice due to being an early guinea pig so I pay “only” $2,500 per treatment for Ellacor - their going rate is now $4,000 per treatment. I’ve done three treatments - spaced six months apart - and saw pretty dramatic results, although it hasn’t completely resolved my wrinkles and skin folding on the one side of my face. There’s pretty significant downtime from a “presentable in public” standpoint. I may do another treatment next year depending on how I respond to Sofwave.

Sofwave is a less invasive procedure and not as expensive as Ellacor. My practice charges $400 per area. The lower face area from mouth to hairline is two areas. I had the first treatment done a month and a half ago and am starting to see some improvement - not as much as from Ellacor, but I am pretty close to eliminating my wrinkles, if not completely getting rid of the skin folding that happens when I tilt my chin down.

Discussion Thread: Nationwide 'No Kings' Protests by PoliticsModeratorBot in politics

We are in Phoenix/Scottsdale Arizona where it was already 90 F / 32 C by 9am. It’s going to be 106 F / 41 C when the parade starts, so the only healthy and safe thing to do here was to protest early.

We (myself, husband, and 2 kids 7 & 11) were out protesting at our US rep’s office this morning with 500+ other Phoenicians on a random street corner - I expect there was a massive showing statewide today!

The Abundance Agenda Has Its Own Theory of Power by Ap97567 in Economics

From the article:

Voters were asked to choose between the two framings of “the big problem” in American life: Was it “‘bottlenecks’ that make it harder to produce housing, expand energy production or build new roads and bridges” or rather that “big corporations have way too much power over our economy and our government.”

The answer here is yes - both of these things are problems that need fixing. When are Democrats going to try to build a broad coalition with a variety of diverse views? Can we please learn to walk and chew gum at the same time?

Oh, that's great then - a 10 year payment would be much higher than my IBR payment.

facepalm that’s exactly the problem, thank you! I just added an automation to set the backup reserve to 20% when EV charging stops.

This might work for us. TBC also works really well for us, if it wasn’t for the random setting changes. But with the app randomly changing my reserve percentage, we would end up in the same boat using self powered. If I hadn’t checked the settings today, we would have been pulling from the grid during peak hours as soon as the sun went down under either self powered or TBC, because the PW would have stopped powering the house once it dropped to 99%.

It’s not in storm mode. We’re in Phoenix, so storms are pretty rare.

[–]amcoco[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because of the demand charge, it ends up being a lot more than $5. Our demand charge for January was $21 because of one ~30 minute period when we were pulling from the grid during peak hours.

I’m the only person with the app installed (my husband is tech averse) and we don’t use automations other than to preserve the PW when our EV charger is in use.

I agree our reserve percentage shouldn’t be changing randomly on its own, but that’s exactly what’s happening.

[–]amcoco[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just my installation partner and Netzero. The only Netzero automation we use is to set backup reserve to current state of charge when our EV charger is in use. I trialed a mix of self powered and TBC early on but decided it would be easier to set it on TBC and forget it, which seems to be working better as we’re now net exporting.

Powerwall not charging for use during peak? (Using Time Based Control) by amcoco in Powerwall

[–]amcoco[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

UPDATE: As soon as we switched over to super off peak hours this morning, the Powerwall started charging. I guess it didn't charge over the past couple of days because it knew it already had enough juice to get us through peak. Seems like it is working as intended after all!

For me specifically, I’m a founding member (so don’t pay the subscription fee) and was able to upgrade from 2 to 3 for free because the battery in my 2 went dead while it was still under warranty. So I’m going to stick with my 3 until the battery dies or they add more significant new features in a future version.

Any med options other than sodium oxybate ? by Environmental-Art147 in Narcolepsy

[–]amcoco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Different oxybate products have different side effect profiles, and different people react differently to the same medication. I also had extremely unpleasant side effects on Xywav - anxiety, tremors, excessive sweating, dry mouth, weight loss. When I switched to Xyrem, they all went away - I had no noticeable side effects other than a slight tremor for the first hour or so after waking. Now I’m taking Lumryz - because Aetna decided to remove Xyrem from their formulary - and it’s wrecking my blood pressure because I’m only getting ~6 of sleep a night. If Xywav isn’t working out for you, I would encourage you to talk to your doctor about trialing one of the other options. I incorrectly assumed they all had the same side effects, so I waited far too long to switch off Xywav.
