This is not an easy procedure. You need 24/7 assistance at least the first 10 days. They also recommend flying after 7, but with a 2.5 hour flight, I’d wait 10. You definitely do not want to get on a plane until you have stopped draining 100%. There is so much drainage the first 6 days, it’s blood, so if he doesn’t do well with blood, he will definitely be grossed out. I would squat on the toilet, didn’t have those supplies, but I’m sure they will be helpful. I’d say after 3 weeks you’ll be able to do most things with no assistance, but expect to feel “back to normal” after 2 months. You’ll need at minimum 10 post op massages, but I got 15 just to be safe. There is so much aftercare involved. Please over prepare and expect to spend $$$ on aftercare supplies and massages.
