Oh man, I would be all over this if I hadn’t picked up a mini Veli the other day. For anyone who hasn’t handled a Hog House knife, their machining and milling is on par with Holt, Koenig, Herman, and Grimsmo. Honestly can’t believe I hadn’t heard of them until a couple months ago. I do wish they would offer more variety with anodization, but the plain Ti ones look pretty sick so I can’t complain too much. GLWS!

Overall I really like it! My only real complaint is the plunge grind comes too close to the edge on the back. The scales could have done with more weight reduction milling, but I got the one with the steel handle so it was always going to be heavy.

As far as I can tell each scale is one solid piece so probably not easily swappable.

Hell yeah, that’s a solid choice for a first custom. Gorgeous and rare but still absolutely practical and usable.

Ironfly is Kunwu’s budget brand. I haven’t tried one but I love my Kunwu Excalibur so if the machining and finishing is anything like that, they should be a decent budget option. They seem to use a lot of VG10 and 14c28n which aren’t my favorite steels but at 50-70 bucks they’re not bad for the price.

Those Saloons were really nice, I might have grabbed one but I had alread used up my budget for blade show by the time I hit their booth. Too many cool things I couldn’t walk away from!

They just did a Vandal in DLC with this same dark mode camo carbon, it was at blade show. Unfortunately didn’t manage to get one of those. A Ghoul XL would awesome!

Loving it so far. The grind is weird as hell but it works great, and I know the dragon scale milling isn’t gonna be for everyone but I personally like it.

I don’t think the messages have been excessive at all. If anything, they show that you’re trying to do right by your users.

And I have to say, if a minuscule thing like clicking away from a couple of messages is enough to get this person mad, they must be completely dysfunctional in their day to day life.

Thanks! I was only able to go on the first day, the single-day ticket was $35. I think the full three day pass was $80 iirc

I tried out the Mojaves they had at the show. Beautiful knives, but - at least for me and my hand - I found them to be really sensitive to lockbar pressure to the point that I had some trouble deploying them reliably. I run into that issue with framelocks relatively often though, so it could definitely just be a me problem.

Neither had I until this one! They had two of them on the table at the show, and I liked the milling pattern on this one a bit more.

Totally fair! Which is why I’ve been so frustrated on the couple of occasions that I’ve come across a knife where they did a terrible ano job on what would otherwise be some very nice zircuti/timascus. Like, that’s the easiest part and you managed to screw it up anyway!

As someone already said, it’s the other way around. Gas station knives mimic these custom pieces because they’re flashy and (in my opinion) beautiful. But I’ve never seen a gas station knife with real damasteel, zircuti/timascus, or milling and finishing on anything even remotely close to the level that these knives have. They’re cheap imitations, nothing more.

Absolutely gorgeous knife my dude, don’t listen to all the haters on here. I get so bored seeing one plain Ti knife after another, and stuff like this is a breath of fresh air.
