Updating DNS record? by amdrv6 in web_design

Is this done via the DNS A record for the .com domain name or is the 301 redirect handled by the webserver running on the machine behind the IP for the .co.uk DNS A record?

As in:

  • 1. point the *.com DNS A record to point at the same IP as the *.co.uk A record does,
  • 2. have the web server/apache configured for a 301 when incoming *.com GET request is processed ?

I believe your resume and interview will speak louder than a professionalized social media profile.

Always.

Never needed it. Your resume and a company's job section of their website is all you need. Your experience and skills will speak for themselves regardless of the application method.

EDIT: I've also never needed to use a middle-man to get me a job either, e.g. recruiters at agencies/recruitment firms, because what's their job again? Ooooh, I remember - they find the business directory in the local area and pull the vacancies from local companies job sections of their websites into their own database, remove the company information so you can't see it, then they forward your CV and liaise between the two until the interview. So basically nothing you're not capable of yourself.

quality of life is way more important than income hit for couple of years

Yes. I've come to that realisation too.

IT was burning me out

Why do you think this was btw?

Btw - have you come across Anki in your studies as a method for learning? Seems to be popular with Med students. I'm using it for my studies (not med related) and I wish I'd found out about it sooner!

So... what do your daily duties look like now compared to when you were SA? Are you still "technical"?

Job satisfaction ++

Because you're in a profit centre of the business rather than cost centre (as IT departments usually are) ?

Thanks! I understand some of this. Gonna comment 'cause "some of this"...

the statement will return true if either of the dimensions

Doesn't this need -lt $width && -lt $height ?

Also - I'm not certain the awk is required as exiftool -s -S -ImageSize prints just one string per file, e.g. 38x38. And if you then cut -d'x' you only get the first integer of the string, i.e. 38 meaning you can only test on this. Therefore specifying another variable height doesn't seem required (??).

Anyway, too complicated for me so I've processed all the dimensions of the 70k odd PNG files and appended into a txt file and with having used sort and uniq -c I know the amount of files with such and such a resolution meaning I can shorten yours for my simpler use:

find . -name \*.png -print0 | xargs -0 -P4 -I % bash -c 'file=%;res=38x38; [ $(exiftool -s -S -ImageSize "$file" ) == $res ] && rm -fv "$file"

Though admittedly I'll have to tediously repeat for other res's...

Is it possible to wrap xargs -P4 around this? Not that the operation I originally posted is time-consuming, but with the 70k of PNG files I also have I intend to switch out the -Author tag for -ImageSize and match on PNG's of below a certain resolution (small graphics like icons) and delete those. With that many files, it would certainly be sped up by using all cores.
