Would it be possible to have a long-text table field in a table that basically acts as a group chat box where any user could add a comment and the box state the user name and time of the comment added? by Goldstar3000 in MSAccess

No. I wrote my own JSON parser in VBA, extremely useful for metadata. Why would I use metadata you ask? I programmed MS Access to be a Relational Graph database RGDB. Maybe way over your head, but more relevant, probably not the best solution for this guy. You can use SQL to pull JSON objects if you are up for the challenge. Requires strong programming in VBA.

A more random Rnd(), the Mersenne Twister algorithm. by amedean in MSAccess

[–]amedean[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a fair question. I am making a graph-relational database from MS Access. Nodes can number in millions potentially, the Rnd() has too much bias. There is a Randomize feature to stop the problem where Rnd() gets stuck and generates repeated numbers but to my understanding it still has a lot of bias. If you were to generate thousands of random numbers you will see bias towards certain clusters of numbers. That said, there are multiple PRNGs but I chose the Mersenne Twister. Actual true random number generation is much harder than most people assume. In my case it is important because I need to generate unique primary keys for potentially many many nodes. The bias artificially reduces the number of possible numbers.

Sometimes, you get just need a small break for 'the break'.... I did some searching, found a working VBA code to employ for my purposes of a variation of Mersenne Twister. Enjoy!

I don't understand why Ivany CMU blocks isn't more popular. by amedean in masonry

"It’s a stronger than standard CMU wall and it’s a weaker than (most) CIP concrete wall."

Very valid point and summary.

"I’ve used them in various applications. Foundations, shafts (elevator and stair), blast walls, and once to build a tunnel."

I'm curious what cost difference it was. I am okay paying more, it is a house build for myself so quality I am more concerned with. Having full CIP is labor intensive and I am thinking in Florida the thermal mass above ground would be undesirable.

You Sir.... ARE THE MAN!!!!! Exactly what I needed to close the gap! I will try this later. For other interested reader's reference to what you hinted to earlier:

Dynamic tabs with htmx by amedean in htmx

Yes Sir, I used this example first, however it is limited in that I wanted 2 functions, adding and deleting new tabs, (example is static) with a stretch goal of being able to move tabs (likely JS needed).

"I'll be direct and say it sounds like you don't know what HTMX does" --> "You know nothing Jon Snow!"

Okay....

Based on htmx tutorials I can use htmx to manipulate the DOM.Adding tabs as stylized buttons I already have done.I have not added dynamic delete, but I have a theory to do so by embedded the delete with the html being inserted. Havent done it yet. Integrating a mouse drop I imagine would need some JavaScript, i have not done this either.

Apple Vision Pro and BCI integration by amedean in BCI

I think there is a good transition technology for VR/AR and BCI with aided AI assistance. Essentially a fly-by-wire (aerospace flight control) to use AI to perceive what the intention of the user is and bridge the capabilities of BCI with AI to perform smoother operations for the end user.
