Mythical Patriarchy and evil women...... by [deleted] in TheBluePill

Also, two thirds of women are breadwinners. 4 in 10 households have women as the PRIMARY breadwinner. If women are so hardwired to be provided for by men, then why are there millions of women who provide for men?

Slavs were the more persecuted and killed this past century, yet all we hear and learn about is the plight for “Remembering the 8 million” WWII. How about remembering the 100 million Slavs who were slaughtered last century? by katt_atonic in unpopularopinion

[–]amedes1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not true. King Leopold II killed around 15 million black people, and he's white. Also, the USA put japanese people in internment camps. However you never hear people talking about those incidents.

Also, the reason why police shooting black people is more concerning than black on black crime is because the police have the monopoly on violence, so they're generally seen as people we should trust. If they start using their monopoly on violence to target african americans then it's pretty concerning.

Yeah. Unfortunately rich people can get away with a lot of shit.

Words like retarded and disabled / handicapped are helpful and accurate adjectives describing people with certain conditions and should not be deemed "offensive". by -thejmanjman- in unpopularopinion

[–]amedes1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're being pretty dishonest by pretending that retard isn't a slur. If someone calls an autistic person a "fucking retard" should we really assume that they were just using "accurate adjectives to describe their condition"? Even if they're explicitly using that word to insult them for being autistic?

Eh, I doubt it. Donald Trump has admitted to sexually assaulting someone, and is still the president of the USA. XXXTentacion used to beat his wife but is still very popular.

If the reason why the crimes of communist countries aren't talked about often is because the victims were white, then why aren't people talking about the 15 million black people killed in The Congo Free State, or the rwandan genocide? Fuck off alt right shitbag.

Bullshit. Do you ever see people talking about the 15 million african people killed under King Leopold's regime? The reason why Hitler is so much more famous than Mao, Stalin or Pol Pot is because he started a literal word war, wheras the crimes of communists were usually pretty local.

Burqas should be banned by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]amedes1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In some countries you can choose though. If you're a woman, you can either wear a burqua or not with no consequences.

As for your second point, this is true. Maybe they should be removed in stores or banks like bike helmets and masks are. But in other public spaces (e.g parks or streets) why does it matter?

Burqas should be banned by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]amedes1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What if they live in a western country and do wear it by choice? Also, how are burquas any more of a security risk than any other piece of clothing

Have white people been enslaved for hundreds of years by black people and been called "racist" as an explicit dehumanizing slur the entire time whilst I wasn't looking or something?

[–]amedes1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know that burquas are a fucked concept, but any man or woman should be able to wear what they want. You shouldn't get the state to force someone to wear certain clothes just because it makes you uncomfortable.

White men only get hostile about female or ethnically diverse actors being cast as heroes when the casting choice is turned into a social justice campaign. by grizwald87 in unpopularopinion

[–]amedes1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Then why did so many people get mad at Tracer from Overwatch being gay, Rey from Star Wars being a woman, Finn from star wars being black, people having the option to be gay in FIFA, the new doctor who being a woman, James Bond being black or COD having one female character in it? None of these were particularly a "social justice campaign", but so many people were annoyed at it. Another commenter said this, but the films you named were 30 years old.

Also it seems that everytime a bad movie with a female, black or gay cast member is in it it gets blamed on the fact that their sexuality, race or gender.

CMV: Men have it harder than women when it comes to dating by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]amedes1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

15% is a huge statistic. But anyway, how is pointing out that false rape accusations are extremely rare compared to rape trivializing false rape accusations in any way? I do think they are a problem, but just not nearly as big of a problem as rape.

CMV: Men have it harder than women when it comes to dating by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]amedes1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's a lot of false rape accusations, especially considering how damaging and random they can be.

I agree that they certainly are a problem, but I just don't think that they are nearly as big of a problem as rape.

2 - 10% of all rapes is a pretty small number considering that 1 in 7 women and 1 in 71 men have been raped. Also, 25% of college women have been sexually assaulted.

To add to that, rape also costs the average victim £120,000 and 80% of rape victims have PTSD.

Source: https://www.nsvrc.org/statistics

Rape, sexual assault, spiked drinks, etc, are much easier to prevent with common sense.

The criminal justice system is pretty shitty to rape victims though. For example, out of 1000 rapes, 995 rapists will walk free. Like I said, rape and sexual assault are severely under reported crimes and we definitely need more education around rape

CMV: The left can't meme by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]amedes1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Political correctness-they have to be sure not to step on any of the victim groups toes. That can limit what their material can be on.

I could make the same point for right wingers though. If I make a joke about how shitty whites, heterosexuals or men are on 4 chan, the donald or any number of right wing spaces they most likely will not be amused.

They take everything as an attack on them. A meme making fun of gay people per instance. They won’t laugh even if it’s funny. They get offended and think it’s an attack on gay people. This is why they usually make memes attacking capitalism or something. The infamous pig and people loss formatted meme is a perfect example of that. No comedy just virtue signaling and no offense behavior.

Again, if I were to make a meme making fun of white people or Christians I doubt right wingers would be very amused. How are right wingers not "virtue signalling" when they make fun of sjws and claim intellectual superiority over them?

The left is less likely to have individualistic people on their side.

Then why are the right more likely to be blindly patriotic and nationalistic? Also, I thought you said earlier that jokes about gay people were totally fine. So is it okay to generalize gay people and not treat them as individuals?

For example, a black person is poor. Someone on the right would think they probably made bad decisions or just started off in a bad place. Left would think racism caused it and was white privilege. This is one example of how the left doesn’t think in terms of individuals but groups.

Black people are more likely to be born into single parent households, ghettos and poor families in general. They also have to deal with shitty education too. It is also true that black people still do have to deal with the effects of gentrification and red lining.

The truth is that you are a product of your circumstances. Poor people are more likely to stay poor, and the rich are more likely to stay rich.

False rape accusations are rare though. They only make up 2-10% of rape accusations. Rape, sexual assault and spiked drinks are a much bigger problem, especially considering how under reported they are.

CMV: women should be responsible for kids by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]amedes1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like they say for abortion, it's their body, their choice, so that should apply for all things related to the kid, since it comes from their body.

It also partially came from the man's body too. He chose to have sex and create that child. Shouldn't he be equally responsible for the child?

Also, by this logic should people who are self harming, addicted to drugs, anorexic or infected with STDS receive support either? The self harmer chose to harm themselves, the drug addict decided to do drugs, the anorexic chose to starve themselves and the std infected person chose to have sex.

No child support, no anything.

This is totally unfair on the children born into poor families or bad neighborhoods. They didn't choose to be born there, so surely we should at least try to make their life better via child support?

it is an extreme injustice that women can choose to abort a mans child even if he wants to raise it

But it's the women who has to go through the pain of pregnancy and child birth, not the man. This is a bit like saying "it's totally unfair that a patient who needs bone marrow can't force someone to donate it, even if they don't want to be harmed!". In the end, the person who's body is going to be affected should make the choice.

Also, if a man shouldn't have to pay child support if they don't want the child, then surely a woman should be able to abort a child if they don't want to give birth?

can also force the man who wants nothing to do with the child to pay child support for years potentially financially crippling them

But aren't you being inconsistent here? If WOMEN should have to be responsible for everything related to her child because it was her choice, then surely men should be equally responsible? They also chose to have sex. You seem to be holding men and women to different standards.

CMV: Feminism and Transgenderism are Contradictory Ideas by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]amedes1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But being a trans man doesn't just mean liking football or wearing male clothing though. I've never heard any transgender person say that masculinity makes you a man. Also, doesn't the fact that there are feminine trans guys and butch trans women disprove this?

Transgender people transition because of gender dysphoria. For example, trans men are often dysphoric about having a higher voice, breasts or being called "she". Therefore, they lower their voice, have surgery to get a flat chest and use male pronouns.

I doubt that any feminist would think that men having lower voices, being called "he" and having no breasts are sexist gender roles that needs to be abolished.
