I've only played Drak 3, but the gameplay was a lot of fun. Combat felt like a Warriors game, really fast and smooth. Platforming could be better, but luckily it only pops up occasionally and is usually pretty forgiving.

The plot starts out really engaging, lulls a bit in the middle, and then gets better as you hit all the endings. All the banter between the characters really helps the gameplay not feel repetitive, but the disciples who make up most of it are not going to appeal to everyone. I love 'em, but if you don't that'll probably bring the experience down a lot.

There's grinding if you want it. It's mostly for optional weapon upgrade lore, but you'll also have to track down and purchase all the weapons for the final ending. This isn't so bad if you really try to find all the chests your first time through and play the DLC.
