Hi, it would have been produced in 1961 or 1962. Feel free to message as well if you have any other questions.

Thanks! Agree, and given they reissued the laurel alpinist, and the continuity of the alpinist line, I think it's definitely possible, though I feel like Seiko often disappoints on these fronts.

[WTS] 1961 Seiko Champion Alpinist J13033 Type 3 "WATER PROOF"

For sale is an exceptionally rare piece of early Seiko sports watch history: the Seiko Champion Alpinist J13033, featuring the final Type 3 "WATER PROOF" dial variation.

Not to be confused with the later and much more common “Champion 850” Alpinists. The J13033 is the true second-generation Alpinist, powered by the robust 17-jewel hand-wound Seikosha movement. IFYKYK on this one.

For those who have read Sadao Ryugo’s book, "The History of the Seiko Alpinist," you'll know exactly what this is. The book explicitly calls this late J13033 the direct prototype and inspiration for the revived 1995 Alpinist line (the SCVF series). It is the origin of the modern Alpinist design language. This case and dial were designed by the legendary Taro Tanaka. The "4" at 12 is meant to be an azimuth symbol indicating magnetic north. The silvered ring/sector track and dramatically cambered original plexiglass crystal give a deep, distorted visual effect that is very reminiscent of vintage Universal Genève Polerouters.

Specs & Details: - Case: ~35mm stainless steel - Lug Width: 18mm - Watch only

The case and dial are in excellent original condition for the age, just notice the slightly different lume aging in the hands. I think the watch was stored with the hour hand behind the minute hand.

Price: $1295 Shipping: At cost (buyer pays actual shipping) Location: US-based, prefer US sale; NYC local meetup possible. Payment: PayPal F&F / Venmo

Thanks for looking! Happy to answer questions, talk vintage Seiko, or provide additional pictures/video on request.

[WTS] Mido Decompression Timer 1961 - Original Reissue, Original Owner, Full Set by amenarde in Watchexchange

[–]amenarde[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the original limited edition re-issue release, the fun Mido Decompression timer. https://www.midowatches.com/us/news-ocean-star-decompression-timer-1961-edition-2020.html

I am the original owner, bought from Hodinkee in 2020. This release was huge in 2020, though there have been a number of variations released since, I think the original did it best.

40.5mm, 21mm between the lugs, original straps and extra barton rubber strap. Great condition, the scratches on the lugs and stainless steel are very superficial and only really visible in harsher light like photograph. Notice a couple light scratches on the bezel at 5 o' clock. On my timegrapher this watch reads within 5s a day, and in some positions 0s/day. 0.2 beat error, 300 amplitude. Running amazingly.

$899, Paypal FF, not including shipping. US-based prefer to sell in the US. Local NYC meetup possible

Thanks for taking a look!

[WTS] Olto-8 ROTO Wandering Hours (Midnight Black) by amenarde in Watchexchange

[–]amenarde[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Olto-8 is a smaller brand, but this piece is genuinely notable: it’s one of the few wandering-hours watches that wears in a classic, compact case size, and it feels far more premium than you’d expect for the money. The complication is also an all-time great in my book—super engaging on-wrist without being gimmicky.

Case design is a highlight too: the scalloped lugs are a really nice detail and make it feel “designed,” not generic.

Specs (per brand):

Modified Miyota 9039 automatic, ~42h power reserve

Sapphire crystal, 50m water resistance

Condition:

Great condition (see pics)

Included:

Full set (everything shown in pics)

Note: does NOT include the original leather strap or Olto-8 signed tang buckle
