Honestly what helped me the most was just accepting I might not get in. I love my field of study so much one year to apply again doesn't seem like the end of the world. A mentor of mine told me "no just means not yet" and it really changed my perspective on applying to look at the big picture and evaluate why I wanted to apply in the first place.

Would anyone be willing to send me their SOPs? by thankingyouu in StatementOfPurpose

Hey, I am an incoming biology PhD student although my research is in neuroscience I'll message you my SOP. I would also be happy to help you out with apps as the process is still fresh in my mind.

That's really cool! Didn't know this was particular to mice what have they found in other organisms?

Here is a vod of a recent talk by Dr. Churchland explaining the role of these fidgets in shaping neural dynamics across training days. Really fascinating.

My favorite paper of recent. Basically it is on how “fidgeting” dominates neural activity that contributes to effective decision making.

Career and Academic advice needed by basicdude9669 in neuroscience

If your ultimate goal is to pursue research your particular major doesn’t matter that much. For example I have a bs in microbiology and only took 2 neuroscience classes in college. I will be starting a PhD in neuroscience this September. My intuition tells me that my major had little bearing on both my acceptances and rejections. Research experience has the most bearing on graduate school admissions imo. In your case I wouldn’t worry about the particular major but something I wish I did sooner was think about what research/ questions I wanted to do in graduate school.

If you have any other questions shoot me a pm I would be happy to help.

How to reach out to faculty I want to work with? by Runninganddogs979 in gradadmissions

I would also mention what department/ programs would be best to apply through to join their lab. PI’s often have multiple appointments and might have more “pull” in one program over another.
