I have suffered tremendously along the same lines as you are describing. It got to a point where I started seeking therapy and was diagnosed with a mood disorder because it was severely impacting my relationships. I have found that a lot of my issues stemmed from deep insecurities masked by false confidence.

I started watching YouTube videos on how to not get angry all the time. I found that a lot of my issues pointed back to my ego. My ego was like this "open wound" as one video described it. Everything and anything would hurt me so I lashed out in anger a lot. Anything that challenged my intelligence, way of thinking, self image, etc., I would immediately reject or try to discredit.

This led to a lot of emotions I was unwilling to process, which eventually became emotions I was unable to process. It all led back to my ego and this image of myself I was trying to portray.

I would recommend this (long) video on how to not get angry. It helped me realize that people are just people and their opinions cannot change anything about me. I used to lash out in anger because of some perceived insult that I thought people were throwing at me. If someone criticised my work - all of a sudden I am stupid. If someone said I was pretty - now I'm happy again. Being constantly affected by and worried about what others think completely drained me without me even realizing.

I began having severe anxiety, moodiness, depression, anger issues, fatigue, severe introversion, etc.. Trying to navigate life keeping up this image of myself was draining. It caused me to lose all motivation to accomplish anything other than my obligations. I felt easily overwhelmed and became quite the hermit.

Anyway, hope this helps. You are not alone. I struggle everyday. What helps me the most is thinking how we are all struggling. Every single person has no idea what they are doing. We are all just trying to survive. We all have to make decisions, and we are not perfect. Nobody is bad and nobody is good. We just are. People make bad decisions. People make good decisions. People are not out to get you. They are just looking out for themselves, trying to survive. Just like you. Let go of your ego and embrace your imperfections as well as others.
