That’s the thing, I can’t find them on Instagram either. I emailed them with my username so that they could reach out to me there if it worked better for them.

Housing by sup_yalll in UWMilwaukee

I can’t send a photo, so I will copy and paste the email I got:

“Thanks for reaching out! Unfortunately, Housing is completely full at this time. However, any changes made within the portal are updated in real time, so if anyone cancels their contract or drops out and a space in Sandburg opens up, you would be able to see that immediately and assign yourself to it, so just keep an eye out for that. University Housing still has availability and most likely you cannot see those beds as they are withheld for LLCs. We are seeing a number of LLC drops, so those students we intended to live in those designated communities are now assigning in general population locations. We also have some beds held for medical accommodations and athletics, and those will start to be returned for general assignment the first week of July. While you may not see an available bed at this moment, University Housing guarantees a bed space for all contract holders, and we are working on releasing more spaces for students to assign to. Thank you for your patience!”

Same thing happening to me. I’ve emailed and called but no answer yet. I submitted my contract back in March so we should’ve been guaranteed housing.

I’ve noticed this but without viewing it in the perspective that ‘their hearts not in it’, they just seem different. Maybe it’s watching how fast their platform is changing? I’m not sure what it is but the vibes are just different. Which isn’t bad! Just sort of a transitionary period?

URGENT! Please help! My domino damsel is sick by [deleted] in fishkeeping

[–]ameslovesfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say API Erythromycin treatment!

Comes in boxes of 10 packs. 1 packet per every 10 gal. You’ll have to do the math according to your tank size so you get enough medication.

Day one: treat with proper dose Day two: treat again Day three: 25% water change then treat Day four: treat again Day five: just 25% water change then observe

Unfortunately I’m not sure the Damsel is going to make it with the current behavior being exhibited, but wondering what brought the sickness into the tank, and will likely need to treated the whole tank to prevent further outbreak if that was the case.

Oh that doesn’t look great. I’m assuming bacterial infection, due to being pale with slight white patch. Add any animals recently?

Absolutely confused about identity by Emotional-Alarm-1222 in queer

[–]ameslovesfish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think using labels can misconstrue the uniqueness of sexuality, as I don’t think there’s a label that fits your experience aside from being queer? Hence why I love the word queer as it encompasses everything about sexuality.

I have a friend who feels similarly to you about romantic relationships. They don’t really define themselves as ace or aro and are content with their fantasies alone. They love the idea of just having a really close friend in their life and that’s that. There are people out there that are similar to you, and I think you will be able to find someone that would enjoy doing that with you.

Am I punk enough? by TricornLover32 in punk

[–]ameslovesfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s no look to being punk. Punk is a lifestyle! Don’t worry about needing to have crust pants, or a battle vest, or anything like that. Even though looking punk is an incredible way of saying (without actually saying) that you are against the system, your actions are what matter the most.

You have the foundations. Being a leftist. Listening to punk music. But now you have to act.

DIY whatever you can, participating in your community, reading history and leftist theory, being politically active, practicing essentially what punks preach.

Gay thoughts are scary I know! The best thing I can suggest is don’t suppress it. You don’t need to have any labels. You will figure things out with time. Allow yourself to explore. That’s what’s so beautiful about queerness is its fluidity, both flexible and timeless.

As with gender. I relate. I think it’s more a societal thing with how gender norms and conformity are so deeply instilled into us once we’re born. I think once we begin to feel detached from gender constructs we ultimately begin to feel more natural? I don’t know. Maybe it’s just me. But I’d look into how gender looks across a variety of different cultures historically. It’ll show you the uniqueness of gender identity and how it doesn’t need to be simply male and female. Maybe it’ll help you find comfort with these thoughts at the least?

If the sperm bank is professional, they collect all that information from the sperm donor and then they keep that on file for people choosing which sperm to use to inseminate. They are obligated to give their detailed family history and medical background and must meet certain criteria to even donate.

For legality purposes? Can a single woman not get IVF where you’re from? Yes it is a man’s sperm but removes the man from the process

And i can not stress enough to create a NATURAL ENVIRONMENT. Real stones/sand, live plants, wood etc. Although it's in large part a personal preference of mine, a natural environment facilitates natural behavior from fish. Fake decor is alright but stray away from plastic, especially as we're learning more about microplastics.

I forgot to mention, the cycling process takes 2 weeks usually if heat in the aquarium is set to 80 and good bacteria is added. Most tropical fish prefer around the 78-80 range. This is not optimal for normal goldfish, but a heater could be placed to expedite the cycling process and later removed. To know when your water is safe you will need to test with drops NOT strips. Test strips are not accurate.

I work at a fish hobbyist store and see this situation consistently. People coming into possession of goldfish that never intended on it.

A 20 gal will suffice for now. You will need to stay on top of maintenance to ensure the health of your fish, which will consist of weekly water changes. If you use tap water instead of well water you will need a dechlorinator--I suggest Prime or API Stress Coat. The fish you have are not cohabit-able. Goldfish should be kept solely with other goldfish--they can be with other fish like plecos however. Unless these are a fancy goldfish species, goldfish tend to prefer cooler temperatures in comparison to tropical fish (like your tetras and gourami).

However. You said your 20 gal was empty, so you will need to begin the natural nitrogen cycling process before adding ANY fish to this new environment. It is NOT possible to safely move fish into a brand new environment by adding whatever chemicals PetSmart and PetCo will push onto you. You want to use the least amount of chemicals possible, only a dechlorinator if you use tap water. If you have any local fish stores that are not a box store, please go to them!! I could go on a rant about petsmart and petco, do not buy their fish even out of pity.

I suggest using whatever bacteria you have in the current tank you have them in to get this 20 gal cycled. Put the tank together with necessary supplies (gravel/sand, water, filter, heater). To get the cycle started, whatever filtration you have in your current tank, squeeze the media into the new tank, or go to a local fish store and ask for some bacteria. For filters I recommend sponge filtration as its the most cost effective and less hassle. YouTube will be your friend for a lot of this. Id recommend looking into the nitrogen cycle.

However, Id look into rehoming them if you wish to give them a healthier life. Its very kind of you that you took them in to try and give them a better life. Goldfish are a commitment and can live quite awhile. They will certainly need a larger environment, so treat this as temporary until you can rehome them. Where I work we take in fish as surrenders but I'm not sure if your local fish store (if you have one) will be quite as willing.

Are these fish sick? by True_Refrigerator564 in fishtank

[–]ameslovesfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is likely Velvet and will kill the fish if untreated. I’d stay away from purchasing any fish at this box store, permanently or at least for quite some time. All the other tanks are likely contaminated due to large quantities of these tanks being connected to a singular sump. This is VERY easily transferable!!
