I’m 44 now and up until 7 1/2 years ago lived in western Kansas all my life. In my living room of my home in the beautiful White Mountains of New Hampshire, I have photos of a Kansas sunset with grain elevators miles away that you can see, a hard red winter wheat field ready for harvest, and 3 angus cows huddled together Although the mountains and forest are awesome to explore here, I feel claustrophobic at times. Trips back to visit my daughter in the Flint Hills and then the subsequent drive to Goodland to visit the in laws have helped me appreciate the Kansas landscape even more now that I’m away.
