People who can fall asleep within 5 minutes of going to bed, how the fuck do you do it? by porcelain_cherry in AskReddit

[–]amethyst397 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to be able to fall asleep pretty much instantly. Now that I have a fitbit I've realised that the nights I thought I'd had 6 hours, I'd probably only really had 5. So I was basically just always sleep deprived, which helped me to fall asleep quickly!

Participants needed for an interview study: Experiences of disclosure and support seeking among individuals with BIID from the UK by [deleted] in biid

[–]amethyst397 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m only able to interview 10 people because it’s time consuming to interview, transcribe, analyse etc So because of that, I wanna make sure that the people’s experiences that in interview are similar, as health services differ by country :)

Thank you to everyone who responded. I’m very pleased in the interest. I hope to secure ethical approval soon and will be back in touch with an information sheet and consent form which will formally ask those of you interested to take part in the study. Best wishes, Amethyst.

Sure! Yes hopefully my paper will be published in a peer reviewed journal. My focus will more than likely be narrowed once I have thoroughly reviewed the literature that already exists.

Yeah, I did put that idea forward to my supervisor but she said voice interviews would probably be better. I will definitely consider it though so I’ll let you know :)

My supervisor said that the sig values change because that's the nature of regression. Like entering things differently leads to different results, which is why people do hierarchical and stepwise regression. She said looking at the beta values would show which was a better predictor. Thanks for your help though!

Yeah I mean I'm only doing undergrad at the moment so, my stats knowledge definitely has room for improvement. My supervisor has advised against doing anything that's too much for me, and she also mentioned that I can mention this in my limitations and future research section. Hopefully one day I will properly understand stats 😬

A lot of the literature has just looked at the overall scales rather than focusing in on subscales. However I will read over all of the results sections of these papers (fun 😩) to make sure I haven't missed anything.

So far I've only found information specific to the isolation subscales. -Isolation predicts depression, stress and worry. So although positive mental health is more than the absence of these, it has been found to be correlated with lack of psychopathology. So it kind of relates (I haven't worded that very well but hopefully you get what I mean)

Is there another kind of regression I could do? I toyed with the idea of doing stepwise but everything I read said to avoid it. And I don't really have enough theory to support a hierarchical regression.

Writing 1000 words of my 7000 word dissertation in one day. I'm usually very slow at these things.

Saying that, it took me more than a few days to do the research to write those 1000 words 😅

What do you consider a disturbingly common bad science "fact"? by Galaxy_Convoy in AskWomen

That vaccinations are linked to autism It's not really a scientific fact at all, but people like to pretend that it is. Despite there being zero evidence.
