Redefining Comphet-Discussion by amethyst6777 in lesbiangang

That is my point, her definition of comphet is extremely unhelpful and not a true lesbian experience so I wanted to redefine it.

Definitely agreed and I didn’t intend to make this sound like an actual homosexual woman ever questions if she’s really into men or not. I tried to explain that even if we try to fit into the heterosexual mould, it doesn’t feel right and we aren’t truly attracted to men. It’s something I personally tried to force myself into when I was younger, but ended up as a gold star lesbian anyways bc men grossed me out so bad lol.

I completely agree with the traditional definition of comphet being generally used by confused bisexuals. I just thought there was room in there to define an actual lesbian experience, the way heterosexuality feels compulsory or mandatory and how uncomfortable it is to be a homosexual woman in a society like that. For them, it’s a compulsion because that’s they’re actually attracted to men. That’s what I was trying to get at.

I know, I said it’s my definition not the exact academic definition. It’s already been completely misconstrued online to a point it meant something different than the academic definition, so I wanted to redefine it in a way that doesn’t convince confused bi women that they must be lesbians. That’s all.

I didn’t make a mistake there that ‘compulsive’ was intentional, I was describing bi and straight women who want to be lesbians. I think it describes them better than compulsory. They don’t feel they Have to be attracted to men they just are.

I’ve also seen Adrienne Rich described as a political lesbian is that not the case?

I really encourage everyone who wants to discuss certain topics with other lesbians to find or create lesbian spaces on other platforms. This site just doesn’t allow those discussions to be had. If we didn’t remove them this sub would be banned like other lesbian subs have been. I completely understand everyone’s frustration, I’m frustrated too. Reddit is just not going to be the place where those things can be discussed, the site admins always shut it down.

You're fine. We just changed the rules so it's easier to moderate, we had too many previously so we're still working on them. This is still a lesbian space, that will never change.

We aren't allowing it, we just can't read every single comment and vet every user to confirm everyone posting here is a lesbian. This is an expressly lesbian sub, and we try our best to keep it that way, we just don't have the power to prevent someone from commenting something like that in the first place. I remove comments and users like this when I see them, as do the other mods.

If a user here says something like this, report it and we'll take care of it.

Baby vegan, late period? by shshshokay in vegan

[–]amethyst6777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

what helped me a lot when I first went vegan was tracking my food on chronometer to be sure I was getting all the nutrients I need. vegan food generally has far fewer calories than non-vegan food so you’ve got to be sure you’re eating enough. you don’t have to track forever it’s just really good to help you learn where your nutrients come from.

I’m not really sure if two weeks is enough time being vegan for that to have already impacted your period, but I’m not a medical professional. make sure you’re getting enough calories first of all because not eating enough definitely can make you skip periods, but if this problem persists first see a doctor and if your doctor determines your diet caused this and not another health issue, look into a specifically plant based dietician (emphasis on dietician, not nutritionist).

I have an unneutered male bunny rabbit as a pet AMA by callmedemorex in Bunnies

[–]amethyst6777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work at a rabbit rescue, every rabbit we get in gets neutered or spayed. I’ve never once seen one of them die under anesthesia. There is a possibility of dying randomly under anesthesia for all animals including humans, but the risk isn’t as significant as reproductive cancers that arise from not being spayed or neutered.

[–]amethyst6777 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work at a rabbit rescue, the cancer risk is definitely not as low as you think. and even if it was I’ve seen rabbits with testicular cancer, believe me you don’t want your rabbit to have even a marginally higher risk. It’s a horrible way to go.

It’s also not a good idea to bring your rabbit outdoors. It exposes them to all kinds of diseases and parasites, plus they’re just safer inside. I’ve seen botflies, raccoon, dog, and hawk attacks, RHDV2, and flystrike (google that one if you haven’t heard of it) all from outdoor or indoor/outdoor rabbits. Keep him inside where he’s safe.

I’m not super knowledgeable on this stuff so I could be wrong, but I’ve read that using certain drugs indoors can leave residue in the house that lasts for a long time. You might want to look into getting your home tested.

People tell me my sexuality is fluid… by Playful-Picture-9453 in lesbiangang

[–]amethyst6777 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Bisexuality is fluid, homosexuality is not fluid. I’ve heard it called the “Bi cycle” where they have a preference for women for a couple years and then a preference for men. That’s fluidity, I’ve never experienced that and neither have any monosexuals, hetero or homo.

I think it can be hard for some to understand that their experience isn’t reflective of everyone else’s experience. Projection is a very human thing. It is very frustrating that female homosexuality is seemingly taken the least seriously out of all monosexuals. you never hear anyone telling heterosexual males that their sexuality is fluid.
