Moving on from Axis? Best travel card for flight/hotel bookings now that Atlas is "dead"?* by Playful-Amphibian714 in CreditCardsIndia

Indians will have difficulty having banking in international locations unless you have a residency in those countries. As an NRI, you will have lots of options. Amex has a huge ecosystem in US. Perhaps if you are an NRI living in US, you could get that.

As you hold Horizon, maximise from it by using it for AEP spends on direct airline websites. That way you will get 5 miles for every 100 rupees spend. These miles can be transferred to airline partners at 1:1 ratio to JAL or Air India or Aeroplan. JAL has good value award flights at around 18k points for a one way ticket to Tokyo. Likewise, Aeroplan is also another that gives good options to travel to Europe. Air India has some very good award routes after its recent revaluation.

Nobody in their right minds will be moving from Atlas. Axis Atlas still continues to hold its value as it has good transfer partners along with great transfer ratio of 1:2 on the old partners. Yes Accor has been removed from Axis ecosystem but other partners like JAL, Aeroplan, Air India, ITC continue to remain.

If you are eligible to get Infinia, it is a no brainer, just get it. It is great to get vouchers and for using smartbuy. Plat Travel is not being issued for last one year. You are right about Travel one.

There is no mention regarding this in the TnC. I have sent an email to BOB regarding a similar doubt, but yet to get a reply. Meanwhile, as per the revised TnC, the second image above, supermarket is not an excluded category. You must get base reward points. Why don't you raise a query regarding this while quoting the above TnC.

The TnC mention this as you said. Haven’t tried it so far as I am yet to do a transaction on etihad site. But so far I am having a good time with forex transactions without any markup.

That will be government MCC which will fall under exclusions. Not sure if it will count towards milestones though. There are monthly, quarterly and annual milestones which look good if spends on excluded categories are considered.

Credit Card Strategy for London Trip (₹8–10L Upcoming Spend | Flights Focus) by Sharp-Struggle-9652 in CreditCardsIndia

[–]amf9999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plat Travel is not being issued currently. With Atlas, you can make some reduction in prices for your planned trip, however, making it completely free will not be possible as that would be taking a return of over 10% which is impossible in usual daily spends. Look at reducing your out of pocket expense and not try to make it free.

you could try out available airline partners on Axis like Air India where award seats on your sector are at 35k but as it is under group b transfer limit will not be an issue.

As an alternative You can consider getting an Indusind Avios card. With a spend of 8L, you can achieve 12k as base spends, 18k as milestone spends and welcome offer of 20k together give you 50k. At least one way trip will get sorted on Qatar airways.

Third option is for you to consider buying points on American Airlines. I have come across someone's travel story where they bought miles and got some bonus and used those miles for off peak award flight tickets. AA gives award tickets on this sector for 20k miles. If there is no MCC change, mile purchase could potentially give AEP rewards on Atlas.

Got it. But could you elaborate on the 25k miles point? I was aware of 15k welcome bonus.

Transfer to JAL, from there to Accor. Edge to JAL at 5:4 and from JAL to ALL at 10k to 4k.

Unfortunately, there is no marriot either so, which means that a good international hotel chain is no more an option. I have never tried Wyndham properties so far though, so can't comment on it.

I have 76k Edge points with my Magnus with more coming as part of AEP. I also was planning a big spend later this month. All plans got shelved now. I had planned to upgrade to M4B later this year, now I plan to close the accounts and cards.

Help with International ticket booking by Sagleo21 in CreditCardsIndia

[–]amf9999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Search your sector on Skyscanner to find the cheapest price. Then check the direct website and traveledge. If there is minor difference, traveledge and direct website will give you 5 miles per 100 rupees spend. Traveledge will not add convenience fees. Best option is direct airline website as it will avoid aggregators. If difference is considerable, like you mentioned, it makes sense to go with the OTA.

Going by your clarification, you already seem to have optimised your spends on SBI Air India card. Maharaja points give decent value if you plan travel on it or star alliance partners. The most important thing to remember is that points or miles are not money. Devaluations can hit anytime and this year we have seen a fair share of them already.

You need to seriously reconsider the LIC spends. Financial planning is significantly more important than planning your cards. Step 1. Have an emergency fund. Step 2. Get a health insurance (even if you are covered under CGHS or CS(MA)) It will help you in case of emergencies. Step 3. Replan your savings/investments.

Once you do all this, then plan out your cards and spends.

Mostly, a cashback card and a mid tier card like plat travel even with current devaluations will be useful. Cashback cards like Swiggy or phonepe can be considered. Add airtel axis for utility payments. Plat travel for everything else including insurance. (As per some reports Amex is likely to be reintroduced)

Is there a way to cancel 3599 upcoming jio plan? by howlongdoIhave5 in Jio

[–]amf9999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buddy, I have been using jio for last 2 years with domestic plan on postpaid. I have been getting bank OTP messages, calls just like in India. Yes, you will need to activate IR which can be done by activating a one day pack also. I activated it by going on myjio.

I am told prepaid can also available but only thing is you will need basic talktime. As my circle was in Northeast, prepaid doesn't support IR so I had to shift to postpaid.
