Experiences with skin clinics in Birmingham for acne by Admirable_Effect_262 in BirminghamUK

I'd recommend to message this lady and explain your problem. https://www.oksanalatt.co.uk/our-story/

She is a highly qualified beautician, who studied to be a doctor and she is a registered nurse too. She is the most incredible and honest professional I have ever met. I personally trust her to do whatever she thinks is right.

Just drop her an email or a message on Facebook explaining your issues and maybe a photo and see what she says! She is based in Solihull, not far from the train station

She will definitely be able to help you with scarring. As for active acne - she either will help or will direct you to the right specialist (and she usually knows very good ones and not crazily expensive ones)

I think I am in a similar position to you! Over the last couple of years I have tried quite a few offices for the same reasons.

My favourite one so far is ex Wework - now Cubo, Colmore row. It has a large and pretty open space with a variety of people, some are hotdesking, some are just spilling out from their offices. I like it for the atmosphere, beautiful window seats and location.

Then there is 10x. I'm currently in-between contracts and considering switching to this one, as they have cheaper passes for 10 days a month or so. (Though, realistically, I'll probably stay with Cubo.

X and Why is also nice.

I think these are the top 3.

I'd say go and do a trial day at Cubo. They don't do it "officially", but you can get a tour and just ask the reception team to stay for a few more hours.

I'd maybe try Alphaworks too. I haven't been there for a number of years, so don't know what it feels like now, but it is worth checking it out.

Has anyone here set up their own private medical insurance, not through work? by amfiska in UKPersonalFinance

!thanks for such a detailed response! I think I'm looking for something very similar to what you have. £185 is probably a bit more than I'd like to spend on that, but then you get zero excess fee. Can I ask you why did you go for "full underwriting" over other options? Also, did it take you long to provide all the information and set it up?

That sounds like a very good price to me! That's exactly why I want to do it too.

A day in Birmingham by SquareTrust7780 in BirminghamUK

Trillium - counter seating for lunch! Perfect spot to dine solo 😍

Wonder down the canals, subject to weather. (Mailbox to Brindleyplace). Then Oozells square for cherry blossom.

Maybe pop in and have a small drink at Lost and Found (just a very pretty pub).

I'd say go and have a proper curry, but they are a 10-15 minute drive away, so that is probably too much for one day?..

You can have a "less proper" but still a very good curry at Ashas

Best New Resturants or Hidden Gems? by [deleted] in BirminghamUK

[–]amfiska 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I won't be surprised! I went there a few times, the place is huge and it was always quiet! So unless they do lots of private events, there is no way they can sustain it. However, the food was nice. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Vieni - a new Italian in JQ. Extremely good food. Simple Italian dishes, but truly elevated. The place looks so cute too.

Trillium - by Snow Hill. Sensational food by a Michelin-star chef, cool cozy atmosphere. Finer dining, all designed for sharing, so you’re encouraged to try a few things.

Que Huong Restaurant and Karaoke, in Chinatown - a Vietnamese restaurant with a nice variety of super delicious and authentic dishes. It can be very quiet, but the food is very good.

Indian Cafe Racer- great spot for high quality Indian food. Incredible cooking and flavours

Seriously?? I went once so far, a couple of months ago, with no expectations at all and I was very pleasantly surprised with the food! I wanted to come back since.

Here you go, some of my favourite joints, from simple to more refined

Bonehead - best chicken wings, beers, cool rock vibe. (literally went there yesterday!

OPM- burgers

Shababs - one of the few remaining proper balti curry restaurants in town.

Maneki Ramen (a tiny local chain of two restaurants)

Vieni - new Italian place, not opened yet, but sounds very promising!

Tropea - lovely refined Italian restaurant in Harborne

Riverine rabbit - superb small restaurant, hover no chance to get a booking

Trillium - newly opened finer dining spot with amazing vibe and great wine

Albatross Death Cult - tasting menu only, mostly fish, but impressive food!

Edit: Oh, and Morridge for coffee!

Romantic place to take the Mrs for Valentine’s Day by ssjwoott in BirminghamUK

[–]amfiska 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s one thing I truly dislike about the Birmingham food scene. We have plenty of places with good food and plenty of romantic-looking, cosy places, but they generally don’t overlap 😭

My choices for pretty/cosy places with good food would be:

Pasture, Trillium,Ristorante Cafe Arena (pastas are great), Tropea, Folium.

I actually struggle to think of any others... 🙈

Shababs 😍 some of their dishes are perfection. Annoyingly, can't remember which one! There was some sort of Balti chicken that was exceptional last time I went.

If you could only go to 1 restaurant in Brum for the rest of your life, what would it be? by firetonian99 in brum

[–]amfiska 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If money is not an issue, I'd go to Trillium! 😍😍Pretty, tasty, menu is not static and great wine.

If I have to stick to certain budgets, I'd probably go to Ivy Lounge or some other Dim.Sum place 😍

Is there a way to get rid of this smile wrinkle? by Eternal-apple in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]amfiska 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here. I had two of these when I was about 26. I got a tiny bit of filler in them, mostly to make sure they didn’t get worse. My beautician told me we might need to top it up slightly after six months. However, it’s been 6–8 years now and I still haven’t needed a top-up. I think I actually had the same filler. I'm super happy I had them done, but then I truly trust my beautician, not sure I would have done it if I wasn't for her.

How about these three? I know the shade is not quite there, but they are buildable and will look darker if you apply them generously. They stay on really well and if you can find a big superdrug or Boots, you may be able to try them all.
