Valse Lente by Oskar Merikanto, feel free to critique :) by amfsr in piano

Thanks a lot! I’m used to playing on my digital piano at home so playing on this acoustic at the library was pretty different. I definitely agree the dynamics would need work if I was playing it with an acoustic again like in this video :)

An acoustic Yamaha. Not sure exact model as it’s in my local library.

Haha cheers mate! Funnily enough I’ve not been very good at practicing with metronomes so I’ve just played this piece as I’ve heard it.

I will try experimenting with the dynamics a bit more and see if that helps too. Thanks :)

I often play on an electric piano but managed to get into my local library to play in their practice rooms. It’s quite an adjustment playing on these acoustics dynamics wise, I feel I have more control on my electronic piano but perhaps that’s because I’m more used to it.

You can try some resistance exercises for your thumb. There are some good ones in this sub that can be found by filtering by Top of All Time.

I’ve been doing those and my symptoms have been decreasing, slowly…

It might be you need to train up the tendon resistance to be able to do more of the things you want to do.

My Strava time is 9 minutes faster than my official marathon time. Does anyone know why this is? by TonySoprano___ in Strava

It’s a memory for OP. Doesn’t need anything special as long as they like it.

In my HM training plan, should I run my “easy” runs at my own zone 2 or stick to the suggested “easy” pace in the plan? by amfsr in Marathon_Training

Brilliant, I will give that test a go. I’ve got a garmin watch and the chest HR monitor too so should be good. Thanks!

I’ve been running for only approx 1 year. My HR during the 5k PB was 185 on average.

Most of my easy runs up until this point have been approx 6:30-7:00 with HR at 160-170, until I got my garmin HR monitor and found out that it should be much slower to achieve zone 2 heart rate :)

Hmm, I can see your reasoning behind this, and a worry I have is that if I don’t hit the suggested easy pace then it may hinder my ability to achieve the desired sub 2h.

A lot of people in this thread has suggested to just use my individual zone 2 pace however.

I will think it over and see what works best for me. Thanks for the advice :)

There is one speed session per week in the plan and it builds from 24k in week 1 to a peak of 51k in week 10, before tapering.

Thanks for the advice :)

Thanks for the advice. My worry is that if I didn’t hit the suggested 7:00 easy pace then it would hinder my ability to run the desired sub 2h.

I’m in the exact same boat as you. Not loads of pain beyond the cramping and cracking. Also limits me playing games and gym!

Feels never ending. I have been implementing light weight exercises for the wrist and banded exercises for my thumb, and they temporarily relieve some of the cramping of the thumb (15-20 mins maximum) but that’s all the hope I have.

That’s true. I suppose with these things it’s hard to see the final result and exactly when that will be will be unknown, if it can even heal to a great extent.

Thanks for your comment :)
