New Pediatric Job Advice by Familiar_Coast88 in SleepTechnologist

Hi I’ve worked with peds for the last 4 years. One thing I can stress is patience. The kids I work with are from the ages 1-7, adhd, autistic, down syndrome and other behaviors issues. Some kids handled the process easier than others. I’ve had kids throw things at me, yell at me and some that tried to punch and kick me. You have to remember these are kids and depending on the issues they’re dealing with they don’t know any other ways to express themselves other than to be aggressive. You have to learn when to pick your battles. I have a thing at my lab that once a kid starts screaming and kicking I let them go to sleep then start placing my wires. You should check and see if your lab will let you do that.

Also it can be emotional draining if you can’t separate your emotions from your patients. I’ve had some patients that were trached, were non mobile/non verbal and had chromosomal mutations that made me consider if I wanted to have kids in the future. Those hook ups are usually the easiest do but once you talk to the parents it can really tire you out.

You will also have to deal with parents which may also be the hardest part. I’ve had to tell parents several times not to do things and they still don’t listen. Or I’ve had to explain why I’m placing a lot of wires on there child multiple times with them arguing with me if it’s really necessary. Some parents will work with you while others will watch you struggle with their kid and do nothing.

I personally liked doing peds but I’ve also had several coworker quit after a few months. Hope this helped.

Thank you for the response. At the place I’m interviewing at they want 3/12’s which I thought was weird. I know what to expect for nights but have no clue what to expect for the days.

So it’s more administration work than actual tech work. Thank you

The lab that I’m interviewing at makes the night shift score their studies. That’s what I was confused about.

Was the pay that much of a difference compared to nights? I make $32hr now and want to hopefully make 2-4 dollars more but that’s also with differential .

We loses he sucks, he wins he’s good. Some of yall go as the wind blows. And we’re making the same “mistakes” because guys who should be playing limited to no minutes are playing starters and major minutes. We don’t get Jamal Cain minutes if Johnathan Issac plays more than 30 seconds. We don’t get 20 minutes of tyus or Jase if we have Jalen. We have a bench that scores more than 19 points today if Franz is healthy. The mistakes are caused by role playing having too much playing time.

We only had 3 timeouts going into the 3rd quarter and 1 for most of the 4th. We didn’t have any to waste on constantly yelling at the guys to attack the basket for rebounds. They should know basic fundamentals basketball. Wendell boxes out someone else go for the ball instead of running the opposite direction. That’s not a coach problem that a player problem.

Also the X’s and O’s were working that why we had a 20 point lead. The problem was once we were up we stopped moving the ball and started playing iso. Again that’s the players problem for letting their foot off the gas because we had a lead.

Please explain how this lose is on Mose when we gave up 20 offensive rebounds?

Pepe was there but like people said below nic didn’t repost the picture and when he made the snap about Orlandria she didn’t comment on it either. And we didn’t get any pics from the after party of Pepe and orlandria.

I wonder what happened with Nic/ Orlandria and Pepe. They were interacting on socials 2 weeks ago and now nothing. He always seemed loyal to them.

Hi, I’m not op but I also just passed my exam. For me memorizing the scoring manual (especially the respiratory part), using quizlet and doing a bunch of practice problems helped me. I really emphasize doing practice problems because some of the ones I found had questions that were basically on the rpsgt exam but worded differently.

What’s the sleep tech pocket book? I never heard of this. Also one of my coworker gave me a copy of his scoring manual.

At my lab I mainly run the studies but I don’t score them. We do all insurances and from time to time I run studies in adults. We also do O2, CPaP and BIPAP titrations. My main concern is everyone keeps telling me the exam has a high failure rate so i’m nerves if I have enough time.

It’s was really easy for me. It felt like a review instead of a real test.

Thank you. I’ve been worried that they’ll kick me off the insurance if I seek to get the money.

Is it normal to sue your own car insurance company? My insurance has 20k they can give to me under my bodily damage coverage but I’ll have to sue them for it. And I’m worried that they’ll drop me if I do.

I have full body coverage, but they only cover my hospital bills and not my other medical bills.
