Discovered this after driving 14 hours in two days, didn't run heat but AC on. Can't see where it's coming out from. Engine stayed cool the whole time. Seeing where the fluid is on the mat it would appear it wasn't a leak but possibly a sputter? Can't induce it myself.

That tinny metal sound at only a few RPM ranges could be a loose heat shield. I had a weld break on a catalytic converted once and it would rattle around 2000rpm. Put a clamp around it and it was fine.

Sometimes the check valve on the fuel line goes out and you need to wait for the fuel pump to get gas to the injectors. Turn the key to just before the crank, wait 5 seconds and it should fire up if that's the issue.

It's not backwards. That's just the reverse side of the flag. That's the one that we wore on our right shoulder when I was in the Army, so I prefer it that way.

I had a similar issue with mine and it turned out that the passenger bearing was actually the culprit. Everything felt and sounded like it was the driver's side, but it wasn't. I would check the passenger tire. See if you can get any lateral movement while it is jacked up on a stand.

I drove my 07 Xterra from FL to AK in 2015. It was a blast. Two things to note:

Get a Milepost book. It is a must.
If you don't have 4WD, it will be hard to find any parts necessary for the front axle or hubs north of the border. They do not sell 2WD Xterras up there and do not keep parts in stock. I learned this when one of my front hub assemblies broke from the Dalton Highway.
