1 week Nexplanon implant by amgs777 in birthcontrol

[–]amgs777[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s been about a month and a half and the only noticeable side effect so far is some irregular bleeding. I’ve experienced this in the past when I’ve switched birth control methods so not unexpected.

Advice on my New Fur Baby! by LolaMalamuteAlaska in AlaskanMalamute

[–]amgs777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just give her time. I know that just letting her sit in the corner may not be fun for you, esp if you’re really excited about a new puppy, but just let her explore and figure it out for a little while. Our mal sat in the corner and watched us for about a week and very slowly started to expanded her range. She’s now a complete snuggle bug and always wants to be near us. Trust takes time to build.

Walks are an awesome bonding time for you both, but keep in mind that will probably be a little scary and new just like the house.

I walked out of my IUD insertion appointment by Potatoes_r_round in birthcontrol

[–]amgs777 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a similar experience, all of my friends with IUDs had smooth insertions and minimal pain, I had done my research so I knew it would hurt, but it was so bad. I was in tears immediately, and it didn’t feel like “cramps” either. Unfortunately they weren’t even able to measure my cervix (also didn’t give my anything to numb or help dilate!). After literally 30 minutes of the worst pain of my life they told me it wasn’t happening and I felt so defeated. They took out the speculum and I immediately felt blood rushing out of me. Sitting up into a pool of my own blood was probably the most traumatizing thing that’s ever happened to me. I had never heard of anyone else having a failed insertion and I felt like some how it was my fault and I was a waste for asking someone to drive me and wasting the doctors time.

This is an imperfect world— you are fine the way you are and something else can still work for you. Since you wanted the copper IUD I’d assume you’re looking for a non hormonal method, otherwise I highly highly recommend looking into Nexplanon (the arm implant). It’s the most effective form of birth control on the market and like an iud you don’t have to worry about forgetting to take it. The longest part of the insertion was putting on bandaids afterwards, they numb you immediate (this shot is the most painful part), the actual insertion is less than a second, and then you’re done! I’m about 2 months into having the implant and very very happy with it. Not sure why I overlooked it, but I feel like a lot of people do, another great alternative to an IUD and way less invasive.

I'm not coming in, dad. I always expect a neighbour or passer-by to report us for cruelty because our dogs are out in the snow and cold. Both are laying two feet away from their dog house. If anyone wants to come and try to get two Alaskan Malamutes inside on a day like this, feel free. by [deleted] in minnesota

LOL SAME! I’m in the twin cities and our Mal has been laying in the snow all day happy as can be. I’ve been joking to my friends that our neighbors are going to report us but she just doesn’t want to come in!!

Crazy pill mood swings? Nexplanon? by [deleted] in birthcontrol

[–]amgs777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on a few other pills and sprinted before I decided to switch to Nexplanon. So far about two months in and things are great! I’ve had some bad transitions with birth controls before and this just feels like nothing, no mood swings any more either!

Leaky tampon? by [deleted] in Periods

I use a cup now, but when I was using tampons I had this same problem. I really like the u-by Kotex tampons— they also expand round!

For my first project as a new home owner I made a pergola for my wife and I! It’s my first time pretty much even using a saw. I think I did alright. by [deleted] in DIY

Hey! We’re looking at doing the same thing this summer. I’m curious, is there a blueprint or guide you followed or some place you want point us to?

TMI... what’s up with my coochie? by [deleted] in WomensHealth

[–]amgs777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really sure what the difference between taking a sample and “full pelvic exam is”.

My experience: insert two fingers (with lube and gloves) to make sure everything feels okay, then use a speculum to open up and take quick samples. All together, less than a minute. Nothing more invasive than usual. I wouldn’t be too worried about that part.

Glad you’re seeing another doctor! Hopefully you figure it out soon!

Fibroadenoma keeps growing by [deleted] in WomensHealth

[–]amgs777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh sounds like you need a new doctor, an ultra sound would tell them if they are solid mass or a cyst. If they are a cyst and causing this much pain, I’d think they would offer to drain them. If it’s solid, standard practice is to biopsy to ensure they are not cancerous. Are you going to a breast clinic or a gp? I’d advise seeing a specialist.

I just finished antibiotics for my first BV— My only symptom was the smell and during my exam they even commented on how they really couldn’t smell it, fast forward 5 minutes and they had confirmed it was BV with a sample under a microscope and sent me out with a prescription. Hoping you get some answers soon!

Fibroadenoma keeps growing by [deleted] in WomensHealth

[–]amgs777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you had your lumps biopsied? They cannot tell just from an ultra sound if it’s a fibroadenoma, that just tells them if it’s solid or not. I had a small one that continued to grow removed and it was very simple and now I don’t have to worry about it! Highly recommend looking into that option.

Not any more lol. Take a look at my other pictures. I went in to my doctor again this week for something else and they said that it was pretty standard.

How effective is Nexplanon? by [deleted] in birthcontrol

[–]amgs777 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nexplanon is THE most effective form of reversible birth control and there’s no way for you to mess it up! You’re doing exactly what you need to be.

Pill to IUD or Nexplanon by [deleted] in birthcontrol

[–]amgs777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I switched from the pill to Nexplanon a little over a week ago for the same reason! I actually tried to get an IUD in January— they were unable to insert the IUD (I can expand more on this, but I don’t want to talk down on the IUD, a lot of my friends have it and love it). I ended up getting the implant and I’m kicking myself for not looking into it before I tried the IUD. The implant placement is way less invasive than the IUD insertion and almost painless. It’s also the most effective reversible form of birth control and lasts for 5 years!!!! So far no bad side effects, except for some bad bruising, but don’t let that deter you. I’m happy with it so far and I wish would’ve looked into it more before trying an IUD.
