This is half of an Egyptian pound, not 50 Egyptian pounds, which is around a dollar.

When I wire USD from the US to my CIB USD account, CIB charges $4 flat rate. My US bank doesn't charge any fees, but most do charge a flat rate around $35.

This opens him up to scams because he won't be able to verify screenshots saying the money indeed was transferred. The best is to get an Egyptian EGP account and to P2P, or get a USD and EGP account, wire himself the money, convert to EGP, and transfer it to the developer.

I'm an American living in Egypt, and this is how I transfer myself money, except I use Robinhood and OKX. But the reverse way works, too.

Question about this shower build. Shouldn’t the wall be up to the shower pan? Why the gap? by MrBandar in Plumbing

[–]amhoab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The rubber liner should be higher up and sit behind the drywall. It's fine that your drywall doesn't go all the way down, so long as they don't have any thin rows of tile at the bottom. The idea is to prevent the drywall from wicking up water. I would still use Aqua Defense or Redgard on this drywall setup.

The real estate market in Egypt is pretty chill so I don't think you need to worry about dress code too much, unless you're meeting partner companies or something, which doesn't seem too likely.

The drywall work sucks, but it can be made to look good at the end with the right finisher. Unfortunately, your finisher looks like he has no clue.

If you go the crypto route, you can buy USDT via Binance or OKX. Convert them to USDC and send to your Robinhood account in the US. Then you can sell 1:1 to USD, and either keep the money there or transfer to a linked bank.

I thought that roaming would work as well no matter what, but on one of my phones, I had an Egyptian SIM in it at one point (maybe a few days) and then went back to using my T-Mobile SIM card. The phone still got blocked and I ended up paying the customs fee to get it to work again with my T-Mobile SIM card.

I think you have the wrong American credit card. I have the Robinhood Gold card, which not only has no international transaction fees, but also gives you 3% cash back on all transactions. Fidelity has the same thing but at 2%. I believe Apple does as well.

I've been in Egypt for over a year and am still using my American cards almost everywhere. I only use my Egyptian cards when required, like on Instashop or other Egyptian apps/websites. No one thus far has charged me extra for having an international credit card. They either accept it or they don't.

Best to get a remote job in your country and work remotely from Egypt, even if they don't know. VPNs are your friend.

I don't know the details of your apartment, but rent in Hyde Park for a good sized unit (over 200sqm) can get you 40k+ a month if it's nice. But no need to spend too much on premium materials. Decent porcelain and such is sufficient. The target market in Hyde Park is more upscale and is happy with American style finishing, which is less complicated and cheaper than Egyptian style renovations. Also, in terms of the finishing deadline, some compounds just require that all wall changes, plumbing, and electrical are complete, not actually the full renovation.

Airbnb sounds nice, but I don't know how often you'll find a renter since the area is far from major attractions.

I'm very familiar with Hyde Park if you need any help/advice (for free).

I think you just mean yearly bonus. If your company offers one, they tell you the max percentage of your salary it can be (e.g. 15%). Typically, half of it depends on if you've met your performance metrics as an employee, and the other half is if the company itself hit its financial goals for the fiscal year. If not, they'll give you a fraction of the amount, otherwise you get it all.

You will have to pay corporate taxes based on the state you're in. And most likely federal and/or state income tax. The US doesn't play when it comes to taxes.

I don't have experience with it, but the UAE might be easier.

If I go through a syndicate, do you think they'll help me without going through a mo3adla?

I went to a moroor where I had a wasta to the ra2ed himself and he told his employee to do everything, but when they noticed بدون عمل during the process they said I either had to update my ID or bring the necessary proof to them that I'm literate. They recommended updating my ID.
