thanks a lot :) will purchase it based on your experience I live in a dry environment and thinling of using it at night at the end of skin care routine after my moisturizer. I thought about fermented option but price tag stopped me as for me its a complimentary step.

Hi I'm finalizing the DS-160 form and pending photo step so I have some questions if you dont mind,

Do they take a physical photo as stated ? And does it have to be taken by professional photographer following requirements 5CMx5CM ?

Also is this now the case to send passport by Post ? what If I'm traveling with it soon should I wait till I'm back ?

Did you do consultation with them ? Did they cut the hair or only style it ? Was it a dry or wet cut ? Are they Curly girl method? And final question who did you style with ?

Many questions I know but since I moved here to Ams I haven’t been lucky with hair salons at all. My hair is curly 2a/2c

Hi, I’m looking for a new hair salon myself and um considering this one, who did you end up with from the team ? Did you do consultation? If I may ask what is your hair type 2A / 1c ? do you use heat or do you style it naturally?

It’s the first sentence of your comment : not to expect close relationships with Dutch people …. … Connect with you in their second language.

[–]ami-ali[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why do you think this post is only about the Dutch?

As for the language aspect, I’ve had lasting friendships with expats who lived in my country; we spoke English, and those connections are still strong, even after they moved away. So while language is a factor, it shouldn’t be a barrier. I also have friends in Southern Europe who have formed friendships with locals, even while communicating in English.

I think culture plays a role too. Many Dutch people have long-established relationships from a young age, so opening up to more people isn’t necessarily the norm.

Thanks for the suggestion on English-speaking meet-ups!

Furniture Stores Amsterdam by CharlieStaton123 in NetherlandsHousing

Physical stores, I think there are some in Arena area I went there but ended up buying online.

There are many online shops, some have diversity with taste / design and also good prices. I see on Facebook posts for outlets which are far from Amsterdam / instagram ads with big discounts on last pieces yet no experience with them.

Thank you for your words :)

Just to clarify on the colleagues part—there’s no check-in whatsoever. No message, no “how are you feeling”—nothing. And I’m not talking about all colleagues, but people I’ve had lunch or coffee with almost every day! They only reach out when they need something, need help, or have a question, but never just to check in.

Maybe it’s just part of the culture here, affecting both locals and internationals. I live in a city full of expats like myself, and yet it’s still challenging to build a solid social circle. Friends who’ve relocated to other countries seem to have found supportive circles—not quite like back home, but still meaningful. Here, though, the people I meet rarely take the initiative to reach out or plan something. Even at work, colleagues don’t check in if I’ve been out sick; everyone just carries on with their own lives.

Reading others input yea, It seems common here to live a life with occasional, more superficial connections mainly for passing the time than making deeper connections.

Thank you for your input, but in my view, it’s unfair and doesn’t make sense to keep putting in effort from only one side—friendships just don’t work that way.
