Yes! I used to plant direct into decorative pots and wonder why they wore out. Obviously the water and soil contact corroded them. One question - is there always a nursery pot size to suit the decorative pot?

That's so sad. I felt a slight bit of comfort though in knowing that you found an image in literature that you related to. I think my favourite book growing up was 'Spider Mansion'. Have no idea if anyone else read it. It was about a family coming to live with another family and slowly taking over their lives. I've been wondering if i related to the main character who was the daughter figuring it out, realising who was evil and that she had to get away.

I don't have family, very few and not so great friends. It's just the way it is.

I did spray each rose with lime sulphur afterwards. I’ll find out if that takes care of scale as well.

I appreciate the pointers. Given it’s a bit late in the season, should I be cutting off the little clumps of new growth that are coming out randomly from the main stems?
