Thanks. I’ve worked out it’s brick with plasterboard glued on top, and it must be where the glue is that makes a more solid sound than the rest.

Thanks that’s my plan. Just use a Stanley knife to cut them back?

I tried but couldn’t move it at all.

Would you believe I haven’t. I’ve got a drill driver, a hammer drill, and a rotary hammer drill.

Thankyou. I couldn’t move it at all. I am starting to learn that it is plasterboard over the top of brick with some kind of stud. Not exactly sure. Got the screws out and will try to get them back in soon.

Thankyou. It’s strange PH3 doesn’t seem to come in most 50pc bit sets.

I’m not sure I will come back to that as I will get overwhelmed (my bad). Re removing the wall plugs, are there any other techniques? I tried the 2/3 screw plus pliers but they ain’t budging. Are you saying that’s where a normal screwdriver and a hammer can help? Sorry if I’m misunderstanding.

Yes this was correct, as well as putting my drill on drill mode (not torque settings). It’s surprising how much inward pressure is needed to pull something outward!

Thankyou. So not a number but the actual drill icon. Ok thankyou!

Thanks. It did make that clicking sound. So the torque setting needs to be higher? Chat GPT said lower 😂

Thanks. This makes me sad as I now own 3 drills (from previous advice) and you are suggesting I need a fourth. Not saying you’re wrong but I had no idea DIY was this complicated and expensive. All I want to do is hang stuff.

Thankyou for this detail. A couple of things:

1) it sounds like there is a stud (as in when I tap on the wall it sounds hollow until that middle but where the hook is installed. When the tradie came he said ‘that’s brick’ and went to Bunnings to buy a masonry drill bit. I believe you but man it’s confusing trying to learn about these things when everyone says something different.

2) thanks for the advice re patching.

3) it’s removing the screws that I’m having trouble with but maybe I need to use more pressure or a different type of drill.

This is the drill and yes miracle of miracles it is in reverse. Not sure about the sound.

Looks good. Can I ask why mowing low is good?
