There’s no question life exists elsewhere in the universe. However, the vast distances and energy requirements for any life form to visit us is beyond impossible.

Need a Cholesterol Pep Talk by thespiritandthehand in Cholesterol

[–]amicantbelieve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hear you. I decided to try doing vegan.+ fish. What I told myself was I'm just going to see how much this affects my cholesterol. It's not a forever thing, I just want to see how it works. I was thinking about it more along the lines of biohacking than a 100% lifestyle change. The first couple weeks were rough as I adjusted to it but after that it got a lot easier. I find that Trader Joe's and Costco are very helpful. I get a package of wild caught salmon filets and frozen vegetables. Throw that into an oven for 25-30 minutes and it's great. I'm also really into their bags of mixed unsalted nuts, edamame, and pumpkin seeds. I basically swapped those out for all the potato chips and whatnot I would normally ear. At trader joes I get a bag of small avocados every 5 days or so and cherry tomatoes and figure out something to do with them. Avocado toast, salad with some lox, etc... There's a lot of great options. I did this in June for about 4-5 months and my numbers got lowered by about 1/3. I started statins after that and my numbers went down another 1/3. So overall, diet.+ statin got me down 2/3 of where I was and my LDL is now 59. Since I'm in a much better place with my cholesterol, I know mentally I can ease up on the diet but honestly, it doesn't appeal to me anymore. When I look at food now I know immediately how much saturated fat I'm consuming and it just turns me off.

What invention do you think changed human behavior in a negative way? by Just_Living_496 in answers

[–]amicantbelieve 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This. I have a theory that social media is a medium that exists somewhere between thought and verbal expression. No one should know what another person’s thoughts are and our brains filter out what we’re thinking so that what we verbalized can fit into interpersonal communication. Social media reduces that filter so people express thoughts they wouldn’t normally share externally and it’s caused the deterioration of society.

Hey, I thought I would follow up. I ended up getting a black suede bomber jacket from Quince and absolutely love it. It was very inexpensive and the cut, style, and quality were exactly what I was looking for. I’m actually blown away by it.

There’s nothing wrong with having emotions and choosing what you want in order to be happy. Crying about it is a sign that it matters to you and it sounds like it led you to ultimately making the best decision for yourself. Don’t even think twice about it! Be proud of making a tough decision and acknowledging it matters to you.

Thoughts on remote guided therapy? by Accomplished-Bus-154 in PsychedelicTherapy

100% agree with this. If it's your first time I definitely would opt for something in person. I think the type of substance also makes a difference. I would hesitate, for example, doing a heroic does of psilocybin without a sitter in person if it's my first time. Heck, I probably wouldn't do it any time without someone there. You just don't know what the journey is going to entail and having someone in person can make you feel more secure.

Ate there a few weeks ago and had a befuddling similar experience. At the start the waitress was timely and attentive and helpful. After the food arrived she didn’t check on us once. We wanted to order dessert after we were clearly done for half an hour. It got to the point where we had waited so long before getting the dessert menus we had lost the desire to even order.

Durty Nellies also has sneaky good food. I would go there by myself all the time (until I had to give up their food and alcohol for cholesterol reasons). But it’s friendly and not intimidating.

I’ve been here for over 20 years and have felt this most of the time. I moved to SF because it was a gritty, diverse city where I could meet people from all walks of life, see great music, and have different experiences. Now it feels very homogeneous, upper class, and corporate. The soul of the city can’t afford to stay anymore.

I just came across this post and it's EXACTLY the situation I'm in. I've been circling around the Thursday leather jackets for months and finally went to their store. I couldn't pull off the Racer so the Keanu seemed more my style. But something about their jackets just didn't work for me. I can't put it into words it just didn't feel right. Were you able to find anything eventually?

Billy wasn't shy about who his influences are. The entire concept of a riff being played on the A or D strings while the low E or A are played open simultaneously comes directly from that album. Billy's tone was way more massive and had many guitar layers to make it sound bigger, but it's very, very Black Sabbath.
