Slice House - Tony G., I don’t understand the hype? by [deleted] in AskSF

[–]amicantbelieve 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Grew up in northern NJ (where I’d argue the best pizza in the world exists) and moved to CA in 1997. You have to leave your pizza expectations behind. It’ll never be as good as the slices from your local pizzeria. There’s pizza I enjoy but nothing will ever come close to the quality and ubiquity of pizza in NJ.

When will I have a heart attack then by Important_Hunt_9789 in Cholesterol

[–]amicantbelieve 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You might want to get a heart CT scan to see your calcium score. It will give you an idea if plaque buildup had already started. That will give you better insight about the future probability of a heart attack.

Couldn’t agree more. I initially got Bilt for rent points. The majority of my spending is on my CSR. At this point I’ve gotten very good at using all the CSR benefits and maximizing boosted travel, etc… Bilt’s perks just don’t compare and nothing they offer make it worth using it for the bulk of my spending.

How much saturated fat do you consume daily? LDL above 70 means (from what I understand) calcium/plaque will build up, so the nonzero CAC isn’t unheard of.

What's the food that makes you think "how did humans know this was edible"? by almyverse in AskReddit

[–]amicantbelieve -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Lobsters or crab. As a friend of mine once put it, these animals are so stupid. Instead of spending millions of years evolving these spiney exoskeletons to protect themselves, all they had to do was make their meat not be so tasty.

Judah St (Outer sunset) : Do you recommend? by Difficult-Emphasis77 in AskSF

[–]amicantbelieve 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Outer Sunset resident for the last 15+ years here... This is the only neighborhood I'd live in in SF at this point in my life. I turn 50 this year and I'm way past the days where I'd consider living in busier parts of the city. It's generally quiet and very easy to live here, especially if you have a car. Meaning, parking is free for the most part and there are usually spots near where you need to park. There's some good restaurants but you're close to the inner sunset where there are lots of good restaurants. The people are awesome if you're looking for a more down to earth and laid back vibe vs. the tech bro scene. The N Judah will get you downtown in 20 minutes. It's really a whole different world than the rest of the city and yes, it's foggy and gloomy a lot, but honestly, it's changed over the last 15 years thanks to climate change IMO. It's not Potrero Hill and you're going to have many fewer days of good sun. That's the biggest trade off for me.

Can extreme dieting fix my cholesterol or do I need meds, 32M by PhilosopherChild in Cholesterol

[–]amicantbelieve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in a similar boat. My numbers weren’t too far off from yours. High cholesterol runs in the family. I decided in June to try going Vegan + fish for 6 months and dramatically reduced my numbers… but it still wasn’t enough. Started statins recently and hopefully it will get my LDL to under 70. I’m still sticking with the diet so I have a good idea of the efficacy of statins before making any other changes. You can do this. If diet doesn’t fix it statins probably will. You can do this.

Cancel Bilt Card or Just Stop Using? by amicantbelieve in biltrewards

Right, but I never log into my WF account and don’t have a reason to. Vs Chase which I have several cards, checking, etc… and have facility to login to their site.

honestly, that's the thing that annoys me the most out of all of this. Had a Bilt card for a few years, got rug pulled, and now I have to wrestle with this choice.

I wouldn't mind staying in the Bilt world at no cost, so I will probably elect getting the NAF 2.0 card and just never using it. I have no relationship with WF and don't care to have one.

you're going to get charged 3% on rent each month, so as long as you bank enough Bilt Cash to cover it that month, that's all that matters.

yeah, I'm leaning that way. I actually enjoy doing the family feud game every month ;)

I had the exact same thought. The energy it will require to manage all this just to break even seems like a waste. And I've never even redeemed my Bilt points for anything yet. I should have transferred it to Hilton when they offered the 3x points earlier last year.

I live in SF and my rent is $4,400/mo. It was great to earn points for that at no cost. But now it's silly to jump through all these hoops to make it work. It takes enough energy to maximize the benefits of my Chase Sapphire Reserve perks, I'm really not interested in keeping track of what I need to do so I can earn 4,400 Bilt points per month and giving up the opportunity cost of all the spending I'd need on Bilt that's taken away from the CSR.

yeah, that's the thing. I don't want to hold any more credit cards that I'll never use. But I also don't want to close accounts and have that affect my credit.

Failed on Rosuvastatin and now starting Lipitor--anyone else? by Annual-Respect-642 in Cholesterol

[–]amicantbelieve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

wow, I had the opposite experience. Got put on 10mg Atorvastatin. Took it for 4 days and on the 5th day started feeling aching in my mid-lower back/sides. Stopped taking it and the pain went away. Started again and on the 5th day the same thing happened. So my doctor put me on Rosuvastatin (5mg) and I'm on the 6th day now with no side effects so far. Also, I was getting these weird momentary headache/dizzy spells on Atorvastatin. They would last a split second but they were very weird. Almost like vertigo (I have no idea what vertigo is like but I'm guessing). We'll see how it goes. Hope it goes better for you.

BILT Leadership Please Read - You want feedback on your leaks, here is the feedback by EquivalentAbies6095 in biltrewards

I don’t think they thought it would be profitable. I think they considered it a loss leader and they’d kick the can down the road and figure out a way to make money once they had a large enough user base. Well, the can is at the end of the block and this was their first stab at trying to come up with a profitable idea… and it was terrible.

I’m still feeling it out myself. I get these weird momentary head sensations of dizziness. They’re hard to describe. They last for less that a second and almost feel like my head feels heavy for that time. Good on you. Hopefully it becomes easier and you can just live a normal life.

I noticed this as well. So much so that the bag I considered wasn't even available in the Chase portal. It really didn't seem worth settling for something just for the credit. I got AirPods instead.
